I have only used aeroplane loo' once, EK380, small job.
Pre do in the airport usually.
Can understand the gyrocopter slang though.
Lots of people do seem to like using plane loo's though.
The food dies seem to get eaten, lots of seats taken now.
Weekends as mentioned would be worst.
Just using the lounge as holding time now.
Its back to QFi for me via BNE from now on.
Will test the SYD and MEL VAi my Lounge/The house next.
Ta again.

Ladies and gents waiting for the same sets of loo's.
No showers.
But they have a large disabled one with tap, if anyone needs it for pos (size) or medical.
63a was my gate so not far to walk.
Stake the high seats as they have only some shading at windows, can be a bit too bright even with blinds from morning sun.
Didn't try the DIY coffee, but the batista one not bad.
OT>>>
***Glass doors not open till 6am leading to escalators down for (exit) int screening and immi.
Was able to print my own BP at 5am tho.
VAi check in was not open then, no staff in sight.
Press "VA" on screen, scan passport, BP printed, first few through Express Path and immi.
Was at BNE very early.**"

Well, I was a little underwhelmed by the BNE MyLounge. It was crowded, I had to stand up. Interestingly I stood right outside a ‘VIP’ area that was reserved for some special people. The special ppl got a special rope (we all know how much VA loves those). Standing there was really annoying, as it meant I had to open the rope whenever these special peeps came along with their hands full. I did it twice, but ultimately decided doorman was above my pay-grade. They didn’t invite me to sit on any of their spare chairs either.BCAA4267-3835-4B3D-8B3C-13DDB4AB3E5F.jpeg

It was reserved for families with children when I was there yesterday morning...

Wow as to your self designated "task".
I would have told one of the staff if I were you.

staff looked pretty busy. The staff were friendly at least, and doing some good coffees. Is there seriously another AU lounge with a roped-off area though? Common in Arabia, but I can’t say I’ve seen it here before...

I've seen the prime minister of the Solomon islands in there.

**O/T
For a country like that, maybe thats all that can be afforded to them, if the Ministerial team were to go elsewhere, it would probably cost them more.
According to the Asian Development Bank, it (The Solomon Islands), are a poorish country, with only 63% of the country having electricity, and unemployment is about 12.7%.**

Back to the gist of the post:
I mean, if you take a deep hard look at what they call a ""lounge"", its cheap skate.
If they (VAi/My lounge/BNE airport) really wanted to do something, they could add space onto either end of the gates, there is space there, but no one wants to spend big money.
VAi flights, are not that much out of BNE, so maybe their idea of the ideal spend, Aud$5 mill would be to close off part of the unused/less used gate area, and plonk a "lounge" there.
At least they have loos, unlike at WLG!

Do you think they’ll expand the lounge once the flights to Japan out of BNE commence? Or would they use whatever lounge ANA usually uses?

Don't know if they will expand the lounge, if you look at it indepth, from a revenue stand point, I think that their rate of return will not be that much, seeing that they haven't got say, 10/15 flights a day, when they could get back their worth of money spent.
First VAi from BNE is to CHC, at 8.30am, then the flight to AKL at 9.30am, then ZQN at 10.05am, then US, is one set, once that one flies off, at 11.05am there is nothing till 6.40pm, not sure what time the BNE - HND flight is planned to leave.
If ANA decides to fly to BNE, they maybe will use Plaza Premium at BNE int, or might stick with "my Lounge".
QF is asking Aud$6500 from its ports in Aust to Japan in J, VA is asking about Aud$3500, BNE - HND starting, maybe will go up to Aud$4500 or more, once they settle into that route.
$3500/$4500 for the My Lounge is ok
I am just presupposing here, maybe its not a good thing, but have to wait and see what VAi in the end will do, price wise, or FF liaison wise with ANA.

Probably an hard place for VA, pre the NZ breakup I'm thinking lounges for WLG/BNE International was never on the cards.

Wonder why they didn't just go with the SQ lounge or Plaza Premium for BNE?

I find the VA International lounge at BNE to be ok (solid walls would of been great), but then in general BNE isn't an great airport to spend more than an hour in. When you look at the cost of there Tasman J tickets starting at $450-550 oneway when booking ex-New Zealand its not to bad of an deal. At the price point its more like PE with the bonous of getting lounge access.

OT: maybe its sort of temporary looking, looking at it from the money point of view, is if they ever have to vacate, for whateover reason, its cheaper for them to just remove everything.
Or if one day (maybe) BNE int airport decides to expand.
ADL airport is expanding now.
We never expected AN as in Ansett to go the way it did.
BNE dom airport is having a lot of work done to it now.
