Was told extra special occurrence.

All you have to do is ask. Sparkling wine is always available, but not proactively offered until after 10am.

Pretty sure liquor licencing laws are why they can't offer sparkling wine as a PDB before 10 a.m. (of course you can ask for it with your meal when airborne before 10 a.m.)

Completely made up. Yes they can serve alcohol on morning flights. The demand is obviously low so they don't proactively do it.

Back in the A330 days, I recall having a glass at 5:30AM ex Perth.

VA321 MEL-BNE 10 10 departure. We were offered lunch closer to 11am. Choice of pasta or the Parma with sweet potatoes which my partner and I went for the later.

Probably tad early for lunch but it was good. Great and efficient service from the crew on the 737-700
