Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

If they served breakfast on a 5 hout flight and you got 2 pancakes or 2 waffles because of no choice you'd complain. Trust me.
Missing the point. Other airlines can do it....just not in Australia.! Pasta at 09.30am is ridiculous and is beef ragau for your 1500 dollars ticket.

Do you have a chance to delay your main meal on that 5hr flight like at back end of flight?
Suppose it adds to the cleaning up process for crew.
they have hours to clean up! Seriously.... VA say they want to keep elites those who fly with them regularly. Not on this evidence. 😜..this flight is long. It's only going to be about 45 mins shorter than some standard Europe to Doha...indeed longer than others. . I don't need reminding what you get even on a Qatar A320!!

Not really as I'm directly responding to what you commented. You didn't mention any other airlines with your previous statement.

Nope you don't.

You're comparing a domestic flight LCC vs QR which is a full service airline who offers dine on demand. Not the same category.

Qf don't offer dine on demand on short haul.

I think that's the issue though ..VA market Business Class...not a "LCC up the front "product. They also can charge very much Business Class fares east to west and back. The flight length is a due consideration. It does not need to be dine on demand ....although again for 8 pax, come to think about it...why not!! 😉

Yeah, i mean you don’t have to serve ‘lunch’ at 945am. You could serve a round of drinks… mimosas, coffees/teas, followed by the lunch service 2 hours in.

Would that suit everyone? perhaps not pax wanting to maximise work or sleep time.

Back in ye olde days Qantas first used to serve a hot brekkie out of MEL/SYD on the way to perth, and then about an hour before landing you had a canapé style hot snack/brunch with things like dim sum and wantons. Served off a tray and you could pick the items you wanted.

I think it is very hard to please everyone.

I actually don’t like mid morning flights serving breakfast considering I have usually eaten brekkie before 9:30am ….

Agree; if I've already had eggs in the lounge, I don't want more on board but also don't want a stodgy, carb-heavy french toast/waffle/pancake sugarbomb either.

To each their own and I appreciate that many Australians like most "western" cultures have more rigid ideas of what is and is not acceptable "breakfast" vs "non-breakfast" food than other parts of the world, but I also think most flyers do find breakfasts to be less interesting on flights than other meals. Call it ridiculous but I'd much rather a decent pasta, meat or fish at 10am than an airplane omelette.

Even Italians don't have pasta tortellini at 10am!!😂

Yes of course it's hard to please everyone I know. The airline CSD also called it "lunch"......but well its not lunch at 09.30. Anyway each indeed to their own, but my point really for this sector is that it's a 5 and half hour flight. A wee bit of imagination and a slightly later lunch (and just about all in biz agreed today) would have been welcomed. Sure you can have something in the lounge before hand but that is for anyone with wee bit of status or a credit card that allows access for the powder scrambled egg and a bit of toast. 🙄.

Aren't we talking about business meals.... Lounge comes with so all biz pax would be in lounge nibbling on a breakfast menu. Eggs a fair chance, so a later in flight lunch menu would suit imo.

Yep.

Common sense, as they say, is not so common.

I’d like to pay tribute to the VA CSMs who do take a bit of initiative toward their customer service patterns and go outside the box for the customer’s benefit, and I’d like to think that there would be some that would gauge the room temperature when taking meals orders to see if everyone would be happy with w delayed service or perhaps take their time to serve drinks first and nibbles first. I’ve had such do that very thing on the BNE-CNS flight when the departure time doesn’t exactly align best to a meal directly and push it out a bit longer.
