Pantry Pig decides it needs an additional dessert service - go popcorn!

Pantry Pig wants to be healthy

Oh, and Pantry Pig also scoffs the full meal service on all flights, in addition to raiding the pantry. :D

Meat Meal

I flew the SYD/PER transcon last week (and missed out on the new seat due to last minute change of aircraft ... grrr). Never mind as the crew on board were amazing. CSM Michael and Anita (it was her first J class service - and she rocked it!).

Entree of cauliflower soup with hazelnuts and parsley

Followed by main course of beetroot ravioli

I ordered the cheese for dessert, but unfortunately only one cheese was loaded (and I later found out that 3 out of the 6 J class pax all ordered it!).

I then had the ravioli again on the same afternoon, PER / DPS.

DPS / SYD on Monday and I had spiced pumpkin soup (sorry - no pics. But it was so good that I had two servings!) and an orange polenta cake.

And no - I am not vegetarian. The SYD/PER I just liked the options; PER/DPS there was a pork option; DPS/SYD the soup could have shredded chicken added as the meat option (Mr. beast_man had that option and was not impressed).

6pm MEL-BNE ...

Salmon - a bit over cooked but all in very good.

Cheese was brilliant.

8pm BNE-CNS

Fennel based tart - Ok

Other options were salads - ex MEL it had chicken.

VA697 (MEL-PER) on 9 Dec 2015. Finally got 'the business' after being downgraded PER-MEL.

Starter: Vietnamese chicken salad with toasted cashews

Main: Braised short rib with dukkah spiced carrots and broad beans on wasabi mustard and coriander potatoes

Both were delicious! Beats the last QF offering I had :)

Pantry Pig's latest re-deign of the Virgin menu, this time - Coast to Coast...

vat1_zpsqsybz5im.jpg

I will start with chips with my drink please (not in the mood for olives or almonds). And may I please have butter with my bread, not feeling like dipping in oil today.

vat2_zpsqkchoijq.jpg

Nothing takes my fancy from the entree alternatives today, what can you suggest? After a bit of discussion I ended up with a nice chicken sandwich (presumably from the crew meal).

vat3_zpsh9vzwh0i.jpg

Main course was perfect as it was, no need to alter it.

Dessert was filling, but I still added some M&Ms as a snack to end off the flight.

Has anyone flown Perth to Bali business class 8.50am flight would should I expect to be served breakfast or lunch?

This is what was served up in J Dom ex SYD this afternoon.

Mince (with tomato and corn)

I don't know whether to be appalled or applaud catering for sheer cheek. I'm conflicted.

For the Bali and transcontinental services breakfast is from first morning departure until 09:29am so yes it will be a breakfast service. Lunch/dinner service is from 09:30am till 08:29pm (Bali and coughet continues dinner till morning). Australian transcontinental flights from 08:30pm until the morning are supper service.

Was this the quesadilla? I had it the other day TSV-BNE dep 1430 and didn't mind it to be honest. Maybe I was just hungry because I hadn't had lunch.

Breakfast on a BNE-SYD flight 2 weeks ago. Was a goats cheese frittata off the top of my head and quite tasty. Edit: This usually is served with bacon but I had it without.

Stuff all this posh tucker. How about pea and ham soup, a nice lamb roast and a bit of the old sticky date or bread and butter pudding. I dont like all this posh food, gives me a pain in the gut

Posh or not, it's really just about how well they execute it.

I respectfully disagree i believe its a combination of delivery and content

Melb>Syd at 4.30pm, I guess I would call it a Mexican pastie and it was really yum, would have loved some sour cream with it. Dessert was vanilla bean ice-cream.
