Vinomofo Wine Deals

On Allegiance - has anyone here had any joy from their wines? I have some Unity and Artisan in the cellar which claimed at ridiculous RRPs then seemingly insanely discounted. Wondering if it will live up to the hype.

I've had some that I thought were worth around the low selling price (Artisan Barossa Shiraz 2016 at $17, Unity Shiraz @ $35), some not, none worth the fanciful RRP.

Hi all, I've been reading you guys for years but never joined. Now I have!

I have been looking for some Temp and was very interested in this until I read the Halliday review of the Snake + Herring '17 (89pts - which is v.bad for Mr HighScores). I checked out their website and they are makers, not growers (a bit like Allegiance) which isn't fatal but puts me on alert too. So, I'm not going for it...

I had cases of the Allegiance Artisan Shiraz and Cab Sav a couple years ago. From memory, I though the Cab Sav was excellent for the discounted price. I liked the shiraz as well, but it made less of an impression.

I have tried an Allegiance wine a Vinomofo- Hilltops from memory. Think I paid around $9 a bottle with a claimed RRP of around $25.Pretty average for my palate and around the 88 pts mark I would suggest.Fancy label which looked impressive but at our Friday lunches was left half empty, ( not a good sign).

Funnily enough I finished a 2016 Artisan Shiraz tonight. For various reasons it was open for four days, kept in the fridge and held up well. Hard to describe, not really fruity, maybe a bit of licorice? It was good, but not great, I'm finding there's not much difference between the $45 down to $15 vs the $70 down to $30 lately.

Definitely Glenlofty Shiraz, my first buy from VM in ~3 years
Have you opened one up yet? Opened one last night and decantered for a couple of hours before drinking. Thought it was decent without being anything special. Maybe unfair to expect any more at the price point?
I didn't find it gave all that much at the end.

I tend to drink Barossa/McLaren Vale Reds, so maybe my palate isn't quite appreciating a cool climate Shiraz?

I bought some from Cellarmasters 12 months ago and regard it as highly enjoyable. Maybe give it another go or send back if not to liking.

Planning to finish off the bottle in front of the footy tonight, and have a feeling it will benefit from the extra time in bottle.
To be clear - I did still enjoy it and it's a solid mid week wine at that price point. Will see how it goes tonight.

No, only just arrived in Tas Yesterday. I will try one on the weekend

Been a while since I've been on here as there hasn't been much happening on VM.

The Glenlofty Shiraz 2015 is back on the BM, although not on the link provided in earlier pages here.

eBay, 20% off with code PMON20 if you have eBay Plus

Received a $20 code. Does anyone know what this one is?

I'm sorta kinda hoping its the 2102 Will Taylor Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvingnon, as the 2009 was very nice, and in a sorta kinda vinomofo way the description sorta kinda lines up -> heres the 2009 description

94 points Halluday - check, sorta kinda 5% merlot - check, sorta kinda 14ish or burp 14.5% - check, cork - check

any thoughts?

Closest match I can see is
Will Taylor Wines Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
(Under cork, price, merlot 5%. But there are some discrepancies.

:) You can phone them, they will usually confirm if you have worked out the correct answer.
haha, I hate phones with a passion. I might just grab it and see. Not really sure how it would be a mof_ Fave though? have they sold vintages prior to the 2009?

Seems like a lot of work for the blend?

90.3% 2012 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, 0.3% 2013 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.7% 2013 McLaren Vale Cabernet Franc, 1.1% 2013 McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.6% 2013 Coonawarra Merlot;

It is the Will Taylor, confirmed by broker yesterday.

I was looking at the Willunga 100 Olive Branch Shiraz Grenache 2017 last night:

By accident, I happened to notice that there's a $60 off coupon for Ebay Plus members on the Ebay site,
(coupon code PFFSB06):

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Willunga-100-Olive-Branch-Shiraz-Grenache-2017-Red-Wine-pack-of-12/333540845848

It looks like good value for around $5 a bottle!

Thought I'd have a look at Ebay Plus with a view to cancelling before trial finishes and after looking at the "metro" post codes worked out they don't include Tas, seems like we're left off the tea towel once again....
