Vinomofo Wine Deals

Need to spend my Amex deal and this looks ok. Any ideas welcome - thanks!

Vinomofo - Black Market Grenache 2016 - Red Wine
Seems as if there is only one wine this time, unlike the two last vintage (2015) from Clarendon and Blewitt Springs separately.
It's not listed on the winery site yet, the 2016 Tithing is though, it scored 96 from Sam, so probably coming soon on VM.

Sam Kim note:
Willunga 100
The Hundred Grenache 2016
Rating: 95
Made from 93-year-old, dry-grown bush vines, this is a stunning grenache; the perfumed bouquet shows raspberry coulis, dark plum, toasted hazelnut, game and floral characters. The palate is equally gratifying with pristine fruit flavours and rounded mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and fine tannins. Flavoursome, generous and delectable. At its best: now to 2026. AU$35.00. www.willunga100.com. Jan 2018.

Thanks Red.

Has anyone tried the other Grenache on VM at the moment - seems to be the
Curtis Family Vineyards Limited Series McLaren Vale Grenache. Thanks

This one has mixed reviews on Wine Front (87pts from GW, but many positive comments from members there) and on my Forum, some like it a lot, some not much. I'm in the not much camp.

Has anyone had any issues with the Black Market 2013 Heathcote Shiraz? It’s the Handpicked Wines one which I received a couple of days ago. Opened a bottle over half an hour ago and it smells corked (despite being a screw top).

Hi Khisanth
. Opened a bottle last night. Certainly not oxidised. It was very closed and took a while to show a little of itself.
Better drinking tonight. It maybe just a one off bottle that the top was damaged or not sealing properly.
Personally the wine is only ok, medium bodied nothing to right home. Considering sending it back is up to you but one out of six duds is not great. They do take returns and worth considering returning it. Maybe it is heat affected with the delivery and the whole 6 the same.

Thanks Oldboy, the wine did improve after being open for while but not what I would call a $$$ bottle. Not sure whether to return or not with screw caps. I had a batch of Geoff Merrill from My Wine Guy over a year ago which had 2 out of 6 damaged, but they were actually corked. Because I had opened 2, they only gave me a partial refund. That’s what you get for being curious!

On that note I sometimes think that VM should offer more wines in 6 packs for those punters (like myself) who don't want to commit to a dozen bottles of an unknown quantity but I guess their business model doesn't allow for it...

I pass on a lot of interesting deals because they are in dozens, but it can be a two edged sword.
A recent punt on 6 was so good that I want another 18, but of course the opportunity has passed.

They do some 6 packs but not many. Some are at the low cost point but most are for the mid to high cost point. Cheers Rug

There’s lots of six packs - most of their stuff is in sixes. It seems the minimum case price has to be $100 before they offer it in sixes though. I guess there’s just not enough margin to bother selling $9/bottles in sixes.

Yep, I think they've raised the price in which they consider doing 6 packs over the last year or two. It used to be much more common for bottles in the $15 to $25/bottle range to come in a 6er than what it is now days.
