I wonder where he bought it from to pay $40 rather than the $35 on Churchview's own site :) Either way he gives it a very solid thumbs-up....

I've taken a punt and boomed so will confirm once it arrives. If it's a thumbs up could be a savy buy but if it's a thumbs down then it's going back!

This is about the Churchview St Johns Cabernet Blend. I boomed during the free shipping, got them yesterday and opened one tonight. Must say I am really impressed. Followed it with a Giant Steps Merlot, nice in it's own way but not as good as the St Johns. But I'm very happy with both of them, I was starting to lose a bit of faith in VM but these purchases have restored it. The only issue now is that there are too many to choose from (and definitely no room in my cellar). the only thing I'm missing is a nice Pinot.

I had one last Saturday night and like yourself kevviek, I too was impressed. I gave it a 7 as it really is a baby now but I look forward to the remaining five as I do all of the St Johns range. There is not a bad one amongst them all. With this four varietal blend, with the dominant cab giving great structure, I reckon the integration is just starting to pay off and it will take years, but it's a very good wine with heaps of potential. A full flavoured wine that glides down effortlessly with no harsh bumps. That might have been the norm with VM years ago, but I am glad with my first Fo purchase in half a year that I got a bullseye.

....now about that GSM you mentioned.

Is The Lane Vineyard "A perennial favourite at the ‘FO" ?

what's some tell tale signs a wine has matured beyond its peak.. tick tocking away??

Tempted with The Lane '04...
13 yrs tucked away risky?

Could be risky, however its a grand thing they have a no questions asked policy.
I've purchased similarly aged/priced wines from catch of the day which have turned out to be unbelievable value, so I bought a 6 pack.

I bought a case of the 2004 about 10 yrs ago and literally only finished off my last bottle a few months ago which was still drinking superbly. For me the 2004 Reunion is a superior wine to the other vintages the Fo' has had lately, so when i saw the offer i boomed 8 cases for me & friends. No regrets!

I've been digging through the recent pages of this thread coz I'm sure it was there, but can't seem to find it or by using search. So much fail. :(
Can anyone confirm this is the Pertaringa (edit) Rifle and Hunt?

That would be the Pertaringa Rifle & Hunt. The Shiraz is Over the Top
