Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals

I couldn't find this wine on a search in this forum, but I have done investigations and am confident it is the Star Lane Vineyard Beechworth Merlot 2010

https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/...al-merlot-2010

Anyone tried it? I love merlot and am considering a case

I have 6 bottles, opened the first last night - it isnt a soft Merlot. plenty of body and spices. Im going to enjoy the small amount I have.

Update:
Ive just had another glass tonight - so the bottle has had the cork in it since last night and its a much nicer Merlot - still full bodied but the spices are softer - a much better drink again now. time for another glass to enjoy :D
definitely a great buy if they offer the wine again.

Bryan..

Hi Guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster....
Tried my first bottle of this shiraz last night:
https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-deal-shiraz-2013
Which was the Valentino by Santa & D'Sas. Came straight out of the wine fridge (10 degrees as its mixed) and was a bit acidic at first taste but as it warmed up a little (or maybe as I drank more!) it was very enjoyable - but looking forward to seeing what a little bit of age does to it.

My partner is partial to a Hunter Semillon - does anyone have any ideas for the Hunter Valley 2014 Semillon:
https://vinomofo.com/wines/white-wine/black-market-deal-semillon-2014
My research at Mt Pleasant (well known for their semillon) and pepper tree, but I couldn't find a semillon that matched the vinomofo descriptors (both 5 star wineries and have been noted as special value)
I also matched other 5 star wineries semillons that were $30 but the alcohol content didn't match....any thoughts?

I can't find any perfect matches for this. In Wine Companion. Possibilities are:
Andevine (JH94, $30, 11.3% alcohol, Special Value, however no star rating online, and CM's rating isn't listed on VM site, which is odd)
Ridgeview Generations (JH94, 11.3% alcohol, Special Value, 5 Star winery, however price is listed as $25)
There's a couple of other 2014 semillons listed as special value, but they have even fewer attributes that match

Confirmed as Ridgeview Generations by one of my subscribers.

Tassie Chardy with a 94pts from Wine Showcase has my attention. Not sure about the zero cellaring potential though.

So I have gone away for the Easter break and took a few bottles to drink.

I realised as I unloaded the wine with ye bags that if it wasn't for the hares chase I am going to sample (thanks wozza), I would be a walking advertisement for vinomofo.
Maverick Twins GSM 2012
3 Oceans explorer Shiraz 2013
Hungerford hill Shiraz Gundagai 2014
Glenlofty Shiraz Viognier

And the real estate left me a bottle of koonunga hill as a "special treat"...thanks so much...

I emailed them about the bartondale on Thursday and they swore they had none left! It was $19 last time from memory. Good stuff too.

AnonymousCoward let me know it wasn't the Bartondale. It was the Houghtons CW Ferguson Cab malbec 2012, 96 points JH.

The irony in this $27.50 wine, and you were correct, Bart was $19 last time - I bought a sixer of their shiraz - But this CW is on graysonline auctions, about $20 before the handling and shipping fees. After going back to that post that AC informed me about only last week, our humble esteemed colleague Wozza made comment that it felt like a wine that was an inviting as a mother in law after a night out. He passed, I passed, tonight I sample the Ironscraper but I did manage to buy myself a case of Easter presents this morning in lieu of chocolate. That being numero 19 BM. One of the tasting notes did mention chocolate so that'll have to do then. The mix looks very good, nicely balanced and I don't have to think too much outside the circle with this particular cache.
