Vinomofo Wine Deals

Assuming that what you're interested in, was actually available, during a free freight offer. $1/bot doesn't sound like much, but if their profit margin is $4/bottle, then they just gave up 25% of their project on each of these cases.

I don't know what their margin is on the cheaper wines, but this hyped up sale is essentially the same as a free freight sale if you only buy a single case. Hence the discussion here and on my Forum, if you over-sell and under-deliver, people remember. Besides, it seems the same prices are available to all for the wines on the offer page, I logged in with a different account that didn't receive the offer and the prices were the same on those I checked.

A dollar a bottle is not something that usually figures in my buying decisions, $1.50 for free freight sometimes pushes a 6-pack over the line, but only for quaffers I buy for friends.

I doubt $1/bottle will make anyone buy unless you where umm-ing and ah-ing at the old price. This just makes it that little bit more attractive I guess.

If anyone bought the Grove Estate Cellar Block Shiraz Viognier I would love to hear some feedback. Looks like it might stick around for a while.

A dollar saving to many can be a deal breaker, however, if that bit of wisdom doesn't particularly thrill you, then try these words of encouragement from our sponsor.

Ahead of his keynote address at the Melbourne Online Retailer conference, we caught up with Vinomofo co-founder Andre Eikmeier for a quick Q&A.

Over the past year, Vinomofo has really claimed its place in the Aussie retail landscape. The company took out the Top Brand Builder at the recent Power Retail All Star Bash; won three awards at the ORIAs, including Online Retailer of the Year; and announced its international expansion plans.
On top of all this, Vinomofo co-founders and joint CEOs, Andre Eikmeier and Justin Dry have established their place as industry thought leaders, making regular appearances at retail industry events.
Justin Dry (left) and Andre Eikmeier (right).Ahead of his national keynote address at the Online Retailer conference in Melbourne, Power Retail got the chance to pitch a few questions at Eikmeier.
At the All Star Bash last week, Vinomofo took home the Top Brand Builder award. How has your brand building strategy evolved over the years?
“As we’ve grown, we’ve become clearer about our “why”. Why we do what we do. We’ve always known in our gut but never have we had such clarity for our team and mof_s. This means it’s become much easier to communicate and more powerful in effect.”
What channels have been most important for building your brand and how have you used them?
“Social channels have had a huge impact. We’ve built a great community of like-minded mof_s by welcoming them into our world. They have been the driving force behind our rapid growth. Referral is, and has always been, our largest source of new mof_s.
“Also, the opportunity to tell our story through the media has helped tremendously.”
Last we heard, you were preparing to test Vinomofo in various overseas markets. Any update on how that is going? Has the first event landed yet? If so, how did it go?
“The first overseas market will be New Zealand, which we plan to launch in April. Following shortly after this we’ll roll out a few markets in Asia including Singapore and Hong Kong.”
At the upcoming Online Retailer conference in Melbourne, you’ll be speaking about building a $100 million tribal wine retail experience. Without giving away too much of your upcoming presentation, can you talk about what you mean by a “tribal wine retail experience”.
Seth Godin started talking about “tribes” a few years ago — more than just a “database” or “customers”, they’re a group of people united by something they believe in. It’s how we think of our mof_s. Not only our customers, but the makers of the wines we share, and our team as well. We’re one tribe united by wine. The tribe is central to Vinomofo. Our strength lies in the mof_ tribe.”
As your company continues to scale, how do you ensure that you maintain a consistent company culture and customer experience?
“You have to make it the priority. It takes more and more effort as you scale, but it becomes more and more important. We have to live and breathe our values — step up, care more, keep it real, do some good and have fun — and stay true to our mission so that everyone is able to experience good wine.
It has to guide our decisions and our actions, and we have to be uncompromising about it.”

. Hi Violin, it sounds like your grigios and griees have been playing second fiddle to the quaffing reds for too long. Time to draw a long bow and pluck a nice one for you. I have bought two vintages of the Gapstead Pinot Grigio, '14 and '15 and both are fantastic wines for about eight dollars, or seven fifty. Very well made , enough intensity and flavoursome, and so refreshing.

Beefarmer, I seem to be quite partial to Gapsted drops and would like to give their Pinot Grigio a go. Were the ones you speak of black market deals or something? I don't recall seeing them but it may have been because I didn't recognise them.

A general note: I was using the 40 posts per page (maximum) setting and have now realised that the search function isn't compatible with that setting. To avoid frustration (and that unnerving "But I used to be good at this stuff!" feeling) I've gone back to the default posts per page setting.

Yes, they were BM deals that didn't need Anonymous Coward's impeccable detective skills as they were obvious. I think King Valley pinot Grigio were the key words. I notice the prosecco is currently on from gapstead, one I haven't tried.

You can make it work but you have to do some maths yourself :)

The search result URL has the post ID in the URL. You need to divide that by 40 rather than by 10 to figure out which page of results it's on under your settings and manually go to that page yourself.

To quote Catherine Tate's alter ego, "Am I bovvered? Do I look bovvered?" Thanks AC but I'll just stick with the default setting. :)

The Prosecco is good. We accidently received the Pinot Grigio the first time but returned it...not a white drinker generally.

Cant see the Prosecco but they have the sparkling...not a fan of that one, a bit too melon flavoured for me.

Oops, you are correct BC...it's the sparkling on tap here. And by the way, we both had a gapstead mixup last year. You received the Grigio by mistake and returned it. I received the Grigio and kept it - thankfully.

Now off to lunch in Lygon St. Last November, same lunch spot, had the house red -West Oz's Churchview Silverleaf Merlot - as part of a Scoopon deal. Quite a nice drop at thirteen bucks cellar door, but beautiful with the food. I am a great fan of the Churchviews' St Johns range which featured prominently at the Fo . Bought the Bartondale Cabernet recently as well. So when I saw the bottle on its way, then poured, then tasted, I was very impressed. Same again me thinks. Ciao bella.

Grove : I found it slightly oxidised, i.e. some bitterness. Anyone else experience this?

Bitterness is not usually a sign of oxidation, aromas/flavours of vinegar (acetic acid, acetaldehydes) are the key indicator.

Bitterness often comes from unripe seeds and/or skins or could be from added tannins.

Thanks RB. I would have placed it as a cabernet on first taste, you know that kind of bitter chocolate that it sometimes has. I didn't get much acidity so perhaps you're right.
Well I'd be grateful for a second opinion if anyone has tried any from the current batch.
