Vinomofo Wine Deals

west oz wine has more finesse about it generally and is not in your face so much....as I said, I really enjoyed it. although I don't think it is as good as the Churchview Chardonnay many months ago, it for me is a winner.
That's what this wine game is about-we all inhabit different taste worlds. While we agree the wine is not bad, we agree that this one is not for everybody.
neither is the glenlofty 11 shiraz. nor the 2012 glenlofty sv.
Back to the 3oceans 2013, I gave obe to someone who went out with a former boss. The former boss allegedly is a fan of superior wine I guess you could. my friend was eager to impress and she did. the feedback from bonita was that her old boss thought it was in the 30-40 bucker range. so there we go. I was almost tempted by the nsw orange chardy last night, but one of out group opted for the nsw orange shiraz. so all of us finally got there with out purchases.

was it me or was that the most amount of top notch mixed pack and quality stuff, volume wise, ever ?

My first bottle was just like that. It took me three days to finish, and my thoughts were to return the remainder. However on hearing VM allow a 2 bottle trial and reading beefarmers's critique I have tried another bottle. This was better, but I'm still not sure whether to return or not. I don't think its worth the original $30+ price though.

I got this in a mixed pack so I'm just going to see how it goes. Have some scallops happening for dinner so I'll see how it fairs.

Well - I like it. It's just an obvious chardonnay like mentioned before, but I quite enjoy it.

Reasonably oaky and nice acid and mineral qualities.

Flavours went great with the strong scallops, ended up making a sauce with some of it and some butter to compliment the texture. Turned out pretty nice for something slapped together.

My Ace Pack has arrived in Sydney (finally!), and it comprises (in no particular order):

1. Shaw Vineyard Estate Riesling 2013

2. Glenlofty Chardonnay 2013

3. Gapstead Wines Limited Release Pinot Grigio 2014 King Valley

4. Fox Gordon Brothers & Sisters Sauvignon Blanc 2015

5. Jeannerat Clare Valley Westward We Went 2013 Cabernet Merlot

6. Patrick Shiraz 2010

7. Fox Creek Fox & Hounds Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

8. Capel Vale Cellar Exclusive Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

9. Bayliss Road Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

10. Glenlofty Shiraz 2012

11. Mount Avoca Estate Range 2012 Merlot

12. (and the 97 point bad boy) Paxton Jones Block Shiraz 2012.

What's good, bad and ugly my fellow wine enthusiasts?

Anybody get anything different to the above?

Good value for the $140 odd price?

The Moppity 2010 and 2013 Pack also arrived, and has gone straight to the Pool Room (aka the cellar) for some R and R time.

I got all the aces as well. It looks like a very interesting group, including varietals different to recent purchases. Phew !
3- I like this one a lot for it's freshness and body and flavour. Not normally a Grigio person, I kept my remaining 7. Easydrinking over summer.
The Ace set looks really good. You'll feel like a King going to the ball with your Queen where you both will be made to take your pants and Jack-et off. No time to Blink, at least not 182 times. Emjoy.

I love the mixed cases, if you want the opportunity to try a heap of new things this is the way to do it.

It's cheaper to get a whole mixed case than it is to spend one night visiting a wine region :p

1 had this ages ago but can't remember much about it. Must have been average.

3 agree with above, nice grigio.

5 i tried at the cellar door earlier this year, staff were rude so i didn't buy a thing but the wines were all good i got a few bottles from a colleague yet to fully indulge

9 i found to be a little restrained, I'm going to let the rest of this one sit for a while and see how it goes. The 2013 black label GSM though, I'd take that over this.

10 a nice fruity surprise, not quite as full on as the 2011 but a good drop all the same

95+ pack. I'm guessing:
- hasslegrove prim
- Chalambar
- Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon 2012??? I thought this was Mt Avoca but then it's supposed to be a five red star winery which Mt Avoca is not.
- Margaret River Cabernet 2011??
- Bellermine Shiraz
- Paxton MV Shiraz

Any thoughts on the ??

My 95 Point pack arrive this morning, the Vic Cab Sauv, is indeed the Mount Avoca, and the Magaret River Cab Sauv is Churchview, The Bartondale.
Was hoping is would be the Greedy Sheep, and is the main reason I boughts the pack actually, and the fact it only cost me $14.00 with credits

I managed to refer 4 staff during the $50- offer. For a while I was starting to wonder if it was worth it as they have been harassing me for the last 10 days due to the slow delivery and temporarily lost wine.

They are all happy again with 9 cases turning up at the office today

Any ideas on the mof_ secret deal pinot from adelaide hills?
Thought it may be Mount Lofty old pupmshed lenswood pinot. The price and halliday rating match but not the alcohol.

In general - I think the pinot drought is over.

I've heard that there is going to be a ($99?) pinot mixed pack soon, which will likely mean another few secret/black market pinots plus duck sauce will probably end up in the pack.

[h=2]PETALUMA WHITE LABEL PINOT NOIR 2013[/h]Ugh. While the white mashup Petaluma label might polarise, at least the juice was ok.

But I think this is ordinary. It shows the difficulty of making balanced Pinot in the Adelaide Hills (in a warm vintage). with a combination of both overripe, hard fruit and minty edges (suggesting mixed ripeness), all topped off with hard acid and noticeably warm alcohol.

An ungainly wine that is genuinely tough going.

Details: 14%, Screwcap, $27
Tasted: February 2015, Sample
Best drinking: 2016-2018
Score: 14/20, 82/100
Would I buy it? No.

Beefarmer - I think the good folk at mof_ have been spying on this thread and have answered our wishes (or maybe not, and we have just got lucky)!

mof_ Buyer, Kate gives this latest Pinot Noir a good write up - doesn't she always! Is it worth jumping on this one? mof_ has left me with very high expectations and tastes now, so not sure on this one ...

Thank you The Director - I think you have just answered this one for me.

It's the reason why I like (the really good) Pinot Noirs, as I appreciate how hard they are to nail at the top level.

Where do you guys 'hear' things?

My broke is a bit absent these days... Probably because he was just regurgitating the notes?

PM Sent.

My Fox and Hounds arrived yesterday. Looking forward to trying a bottle this weekend.
Based on what I have heard, perhaps I should not have off loaded half a case.

Pinot is tempting after missing out of the Kiwi drop the other day. Perhaps better to hold off and save my $100 credit for something else.

Hello! Been a reader of this thread for a few weeks, finally got around to signing up - FIRST POST!!!! Any ideas on the duck sauce 2014 pinot?

Hello! Been reading this thread for a few weeks and thought I'd get involved...love the Vinomofo!! First post hear goes...
What are your guys thoughts on the Duck Sauce 2014 pinot?
Having worked perviously for an online wine club I know sometimes the quality of their own labels are not quite up to scratch. Keen to hear peoples thoughts....

Mmm. I am not sure I would be tempted by a mixed pack of Pinot Noirs, not without knowing their providence. There's no point buying wine for the sake of it being cheap, particularly if it's Pinot Noir.

If they included one of their Duck Sauce collaboration wines, that wouldn't be too bad. The 2013 was nice, but haven't tried the 2014.

What Pinot Noirs have they done recently? :

- today's Petaluma White Label
- their Duck Sauce 2014
- the posh one from Tassie that had no discount (can't remember the name)
- the Tomich 777-1
- others? ...

[I tried a Collaboration Case a few months back and I wasn't blown away by any of them. Although, The Duck Sauce was one of the nicer ones, for sure. The Orgy was awful. Very, very sweet. And that wasn't just my view, it was shared at dinner with 6 friends. They were all polite, until I said something. And we all agreed to pour it down the sink and open a bottle of something new. They all loved the name, though!]
