Vinomofo Wine Deals

My first bottle was just like that. It took me three days to finish, and my thoughts were to return the remainder. However on hearing VM allow a 2 bottle trial and reading beefarmers's critique I have tried another bottle. This was better, but I'm still not sure whether to return or not. I don't think its worth the original $30+ price though.

I hope you rang vinomofo and organized a return. Rarely has this occurred to me, perhaps once a decade, however you feel much worse knowing that you have them just sitting around. Recent aff postings also suggest that turned wines that were once very eagerly anticipated now make you miffed just thinking about remaining stocks. The credit will be easily respent on other wines.

By the way, did I tell you about one dodgy bloke who managed to get a case of wine on the house using vinomofos two bottle policy. How you inquire. He ordered a case, drank two botts then rang them to collect the remaining 10 sying he didn't like it. case two arrived, he drank two and the story repeats itself six times, hence a case for free.

Once you ponder this story and either (a) think how nasty it was... yet clever in a perverse way or (b) think straight away that I made this up, I will get back to you.
Considering all the recent scamming using dummy email addresses, will the answer surprise you?
Probably not.

The Fox Creek is tempting, got a final last-day $50 referral. $400 for the month, pretty happy! Keen to hear some more reviews, although I may save this last $50 for something special.
So far have got (with various credit/family splits) Salvation, Shiraz 8.0, Red Flight Exp, Lou Miranda Shiraz, Hewitson, and Paxton Shiraz Grenache. Probably enough to tide me over for now.... maybe?

EDIT: The Lou Miranda is a great wine, especially after a couple of hours/next day breathing - really develops some more character and a touch of smoothness. The Paxton is insta-quaffable and a tasty little all-rounder.

Hi Tock, so you gave the Golden lion your tick of approval. I have only had one, and really liked it, and since you,ve been reading this site, it was one that created diversity in opinion. Letting them all breathe is a big lesson to all.
Looking at your stocks, how good is it to land a case for under seventy dollars net. And this is where I am sure many upgraded to a better(?), certainly dearer six pack. Keep drinking !

Just opened my fifth bottle of the Tomich 1771 Reserve Pinot Noir 2012. I may be biased, as I really appreciate a good Pinot Noir when it's executed well, but this is great. Anybody else buy the 12 pack way back when this year?

Has anyone tried it and can report? I'm a member and get Several cases a year and have been to the cellar door a few times but have never seen that range on tasting nor had it delivered. Also they offer a $50 refer a friend bonus if you join their circle club if anyone is interested? Pm me.
I have been enjoying a bottle of the shiraz last night and tonight.

I am thoroughly enjoying it. Full bodied with a bit off pepperiness on the rear palate. (Please don't ask me to be more specific as I don't have those skills). I think it will develop a bit more over the next couple of years.

Suffice to say, would I pay $29? Maybe. But at $10 - bargain.

Edit: Cabernet tomorrow night.

I wish I bought more.....my first bottle was a little iffy, but the next till the end stunning. I contacted Randal Tomich to ascertain why it was so cheap and the answer lay in the fact that the pinot was starting to brown. I must say you could see it in the wine, but it did not detract one iota. However, I picked up the hawkburn or whateveritwas from new Zealand 6 pack on Friday, and believe it is getting delivered tomorrow. You are obviously a pinot connoisseur and comparisons are inevitable.

Far from surprised and as such of course I believe it but can't really I think that anyone doing this is a bit a dick. Just because you can has never been a good reason to do things for me.

totally made up story, but it reminds me a decade ago with my first wine club, wineselectors, a great crowd. They had the normal return policy i.e. if you don't like two, return....I remember asking about this and sure enough, some punter from Double bay rang up saying hey drank 4 but didn't like them. Wineselectors honoured it....ONCE !!

For the price at V/M it was a good buy - at $29 ( even low $20's) I can find better wines - eg Pertaringa Undercover Shiraz - I agree the wine seems to require a few more years before we see it at its best. For the price I am satisfied.

That's how the punter can afford to reside in Double Bay. ;)

Alcohol is 1% off, which could be a deliberate ploy to try & throw us off. Another possibility after a bit of a look at Winecompanion is Chalmers Le Sorrelle.

Secret deal WA Shiraz $24.75, my limited skills have come up with nothing... Anyone?

Description says that they've stocked the 2011 before. I strongly suspect Willoughby Park - Kalgan Ironrock Albany Shiraz

96pts JH, $55 RRP and 5 star producer. 2011 stocked previously

James Halliday - Published on 27 Jul 2015

Hand-picked, small batch open ferments, hand-plunged, 18 months in French and American oak. There is a lacy mouthfeel that allows the simultaneous transmission of spice, red and black cherry fruits, anise, pepper and tannins, yet all with a breezy freshness.

Edit: Anonymous beat me to it. :)

Luckily I haven't had a bad bottle yet, but I do have 6 left. It is a little (but only a little) brown in colour - it was the first thing I noticed when opening this latest bottle. I didn't notice it with the others. I am hoping the remaining bottles will be just as good. I better drink them up quick (like you did!)...

I am looking out for some really good quality Pinot Noirs with a good discount (but not because they are going past their best before date!).

same same about the pinots wozza......I still think the I-777 has 18 months in it easy, so no big deal with quick drinking.
I mentioned previously thru the danny m section that I had a red hill estate pinot tasting instore. bought some at $13.20. now they are about $17. I was very impressed with my two glass tasting. what I do is taste the sample and if I like it knowing it is the leaner-in this case it was a pinot versus a cab/shiraz, - I go back to it. if it looses its intensity, I get a little worried and may sk for a third portion. this one had me on the second. considering I recently bought a Heathcote whitebox pinot from dannys for $15 which was very ordinary, I struck a beauty. is it as good as a forty bucker innocent bystander-no. is it as good as a bcat20 three steps recent yarra valley purchase on special-obviously not. But it's good. it would probably make that e-zine mag which I don't subscribe to, kim's best wines under twenty, top picks for the week.

what I am hanging out for is the lakebreeze bernoota s/c blend '13, and the shotfire quartage '13.

Back to the 3oceans 2013, I gave obe to someone who went out with a former boss. The former boss allegedly is a fan of superior wine I guess you could. my friend was eager to impress and she did. the feedback from bonita was that her old boss thought it was in the 30-40 bucker range. so there we go.

I got this in a mixed pack so I'm just going to see how it goes. Have some scallops happening for dinner so I'll see how it fairs.

My Ace Pack has arrived in Sydney (finally!), and it comprises (in no particular order):

1. Shaw Vineyard Estate Riesling 2013

2. Glenlofty Chardonnay 2013

3. Gapstead Wines Limited Release Pinot Grigio 2014 King Valley

4. Fox Gordon Brothers & Sisters Sauvignon Blanc 2015

5. Jeannerat Clare Valley Westward We Went 2013 Cabernet Merlot

6. Patrick Shiraz 2010

7. Fox Creek Fox & Hounds Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

8. Capel Vale Cellar Exclusive Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

9. Bayliss Road Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

10. Glenlofty Shiraz 2012

11. Mount Avoca Estate Range 2012 Merlot

12. (and the 97 point bad boy) Paxton Jones Block Shiraz 2012.

What's good, bad and ugly my fellow wine enthusiasts?

Anybody get anything different to the above?

Good value for the $140 odd price?

The Moppity 2010 and 2013 Pack also arrived, and has gone straight to the Pool Room (aka the cellar) for some R and R time.
