Vinomofo Wine Deals

Although the below is a little bit of a background on a wine selling retailer that most of us would probably rank in the top two of out all time favourites, it really is just acknowledgment of a couple of pissheads's ideas of making wine fun. It really gets down to the simplicity of supply and demand. Life is about supply and demand, and I have always said that only two things sell, sex and fear. In passing, my recently departed mums house sold extremely well at auction last Saturday, and I can tell you that along the way, there was a bit of fear, but on the day, sex played a part. You know this isn't a literal meaning, luckily no one had to do anything outlandish to entice bidding but the concept of beautifying or enhancing something really sexes it up and it worked. Tthe lads at the Fo have grown their 'tribe' to a ridiculous level and it is enormously successful. Whilst not as successful as a parrot which always sucks seeds, these dudes have pulled off an incredible business with their 'vinimofo wine deals'. I have put myself on an embargo due to the quantities I have literally under my bed since November and like Wozza, won't be buying in 2017. However, what I have I like as if I didn't , it would have ended up in someones ninety nine dollar mixed case of discarded babies.

Knocked back a few wines last Saturday night with great friends and I should post a comment in the nice wines thread. Some were Fo purchases and friends loved them. Some were my classical faves. Funny thing, all of them were good. Not a dud.

So enjoy the read below, I am sure some may have seen it, but this sort of marketing really impresses me. What also impresses me is the nternet food/grocery/supermarket purchases that overseas folk make thru the likes of Amazon. How will woollies etc sex this up to compete?Loyalty cards will soon get more freebess I would assume as amazon makes its charge. By the way, is there a sort of ASX/business/economic forum of AFF? Cheers all. I may need an excuse to be indulging in a Fo vino whilst engrossing myself on AFF. education is what I will tell nadia.

Wow BF that takes the gong for the longest post I've ever seen in my brief time on this forum! Makes for fascinating reading though, VM certainly seem to be expanding into every nook and cranny available to them on-line and off. I guess they have to be mindful of killing the goose that laid the golden egg as so much of their hype has been based around "we're just a bunch of ordinary dudes who love to sup from the cup", their transition to corporate monster may not translate into sales or at least sales to the previous client base (Betty and Max Shiraz being a case in point, a wine you can get in any "average" bottle shop ) but then they're laughing all the way to the bank....and I've certainly had my share of cracking wines at very low price points this year, cheers, W&D

Might be worth a punt, still got some credit and got no Temp in the cellar

If I can summarise the reviews correctly, then the consensus is its a little different, needs only a very short decant and drink in one sitting as it falls away very quickly.

I can summarise it even more succinctly - it was ****e! Sorry if that sounds a little uncouth but I think my tasting notes such as they are, can be found somewhere in this thread, it really wasn't a 'good' wine in my humble estimation, it actually tasted quite faulty, anyway my lot went back to that big VM boneyard in the sky and can probably be found padding out a "Salvation" case somewhere sometime....Visector I'd honestly save your dosh.

Well said Whining&dining definitely gone to a Salvation case. As Beefarmer; yourself; me and other AFF members know there are much better Tempys available at a fair price. Cheers

I'm still dreaming of that Epsilon Tempy that disappeared off the radar Rug.... :-|

Thanks for the heads up, managed to cancel my order this morning before it was sent out..... the good ones seen to be few and far between these days.

Always sorry to rain on someone's parade but it really was a stinker, and yes I think there is a bit of patchiness quality-wise at the mo......

Well Kohen I've only cracked one of the six that I received and although dense and dark and quite moreish (the grammar naz_ in me is asking those who spell this word "moorish" to take note) I'm going to take Rug's advice and let them have a bit of a lie down before cracking another (sinuses were probably at fault too)...

Maaate, I have just realised that I am the culprit with the use of superb. No longer will I see u after my pee. Shucks if there were more Skoda Superb motor vehicles around, I think I would have been on the case earlier.
What gets me is the comparative versus superlative muck up. About that can of worms, anyone actually seen one?
Sorry Beefarmer used the last can of worms fishing and enjoying a Known Pleasure.(VM wine to stay onthread). Cheers

How's the Known Pleasure? I have a case but haven't cracked one yet. I'm having a '12 Ara Block M36 Pinot tonigh. Took almost an hour to open in the decanter and not sure I'm convinced just yet. There was a strong brine and sulfur smell that took a long time to settle, I found it a bit of an assault on the senses, or perhaps that was the scotches earlier..
