Vinomofo Wine Deals

Ecstatic is a strong word. The 2013 was a beautiful wine, although to me to almost tasted more like a Pinot than a Shiraz, with the cool climate characteristics quite dominant. The 2014 was also quite a nice wine, tasting a little more Shiraz like. However it still tasted quite young and really in need of more bottle time to come together. I haven't tasted the 2012, nor have I seen anything from wine companion about any current offers. Was this a print based offer or an email based offer?
It came as an email from Wine Companion.
it looks like the offer has disappeared, sorry.
Still the shiraz is good. Interestingly the Vinomofo shiraz 2014 is in a burgandy bottle whilst the 2014 shiraz from website is in a bordeaux bottle

Looks like the Glenlofty SV 2013 is back on. Great quaffer.

Picked up a couple of awards since last time it was up! The 2011 was probably my favourite <$10 wine from the fo, the 2013 is still drinking quite young with big acid from the Viognier but its settling down nicely into a beautiful wine.

I snagged two salvation cases on this run and was more than happy with both. Each had a mixed bag with 8+ bottles of 95-97 points and $50-75 price tags, reaffirming my opinion that at $9-11 a bottle the salvation cases are leagues above both the cube/club cases as well as mixed cases of similar value.

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals - Squid Ink

Delectable blue this is where the Warramate reference emanated from:

Just got 3 cases of Salvation. and a few different odds and sods including a 2014 Warramate shiraz(with stained label so obviously from a broken case) BTW Warramate are offering their chards (2013)and shiraz 2012 for 150 a case thru Wine companion. The Salvation price has gone from $99 to $129 in the last few months. They make a good selection for work functions and can always put aside the good ones!!

For anyone that is interested, I'm pretty confident that todays Black Market Yarra Valley Shiraz is the Warramate White Label.

Warramate Wines | 2014 Warramate White Label Shiraz

The 2013 was a stunning, if slightly confusing wine. I described it as being one of the nicest Pinots I've ever tasted, despite being a shiraz. A really beautiful wine once you set aside your preconceptions about how a Shiraz should taste.
Perhaps not ecstatic but certainly glowing...

Agreed - The warramate was totally on my list of top reds in the past 12 months from VM! Getting a case now!

Another happy punter....

I had two yarra valley wines recently - the 2010 Elmswood Cab Merlot and the 2013 Warramate Shiraz in the one session. One of these was an absolutely stunning, complex wine and I can only guess due to no notes taken that it was the Warramate.

And another....

Admittedly some posts refer to different vintages but the general impression I have gained is that of a high quality producer...

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals - Squid Ink

Happy Friday everyone. Can anyone confirm or deny whether today's black market Yarra Cabernet is indeed Warramate? I bought both the 2013 & 2014 Warramate Shiraz from the fo and was pleased with both, although the 2013 was better IMHO. Cheers

Do Warramate produce a cabernet at the $50 price point (a white label presumably)? I can't see anything like this on their website.

Not much to go on other than "Tarantino" so I'm taking a punt on Punch - Lance's Vineyard. If I'm right this is what JH has to say "Cabernet to its back teeth, almost too much so. Tannin here grabs and holds so tight it almost throws the balance off." and 89 points.

Warramate looks a better bet:

Punch is a Halliday Red 5 Star winery, which VM is never shy of mentioning.

Yes, magically appeared on their site a little while ago, wasn't there at about midday.
And out of stock.

Wineries doing exclusives for VinoMofo need to coordinate better! And take a label shot before they send it all off.

Interesting that they say cellar for up to 5 years, the 2011 WL Shiraz and 2010 WL Cabernets say 8+ and 10 years. Even the cheaper Black Label Cabernets 2013 says 10 years cellaring.

Trying to control the inner cynic here.

I'll take that cynic and up you another cynic - I sense more and more wineries doing VM specials to offload surplus grapes/wine. Got to admit its a great business model and cheaper than sending it to China but making it more challenging to keep my interest - I tend to scroll from top to bottom in a minute and move on to the next site these days.

...BTW have just cracked into the Schild 2014 Barossa Shiraz and THIS is my kind of wine, bold, up-front fruit and good balancing acidity

Ditto re the 2014 Schild Shiraz W&D, opened that last night, most enjoyable and a re buy any day !! Wife actually had another small glass and the bottle was empty in one night - what more could be said :)

2014 Schild?? I didn't see this for sale on the Fo!

G'day Rkt - it was in a LaBoeuf (Spelling?) dozen purchased 09/09/16, W&D and I got same, been comparing our thoughts on bottles.

Also has a Maverick Ahrens Creek 2014 Shiraz which we are looking fwd to. :)

Cracked a Claymore Bittersweet last night and was a little underwhelmed. We usually think the Halliday special value wines are pretty good, but this one tasted a bit blah (thin maybe?!) and I'm just not sure about it compared to some of the others we've ordered recently.

I'm sort of considering returning the case and looking to get more of one of the recent purchases we've really enjoyed. We've been drinking the Maverick Shiraz and Cab and enjoying them both recently, and the Pertaringa Over the Top is provably our favourite buy so far.

Would be interested to hear if anyone agrees or if best to just not trust my uncultured palate!

It is always best to trust your own personal preferences.
I agree. You're the one drinking it. :)
