Vinomofo Wine Deals

That is what I first thought but the rrp is $22 and not $27.
Thought it say '$27 from JH' not from winery... But I don't have access to the Wine Companion to check...

Winecompanion has the price as $27. The VM webpage even had Halliday's writeup for the Eight Acres Semillon earlier today. It was removed a few minutes later. :)

Cool! It is a very good wine. I had two cases of the previous vintage that I got for the same offered price directly from the winery. I just had the 2nd last bottle last night wondering how will I do to get some more for the same price.

4 cases on their way :) I was going to buy 2 as I was thinking that it could be the Eight Acres but your post made me double the deal :)

So, I will try again what I didn't succeed with the 2013: Keep half of it in the cellar and let it age...

Just took a punt on the cab sav that we think is the St Halletts "The Reward." Never tried their cab sav, but I'm a big fan of St Hallett and the Faith Shiraz is one of my favourites, especially when it's down around $12 per bottle.

I think RedBigot has said it's not St Hallet (post #6201). Thought I'm getting a bit stumped, having browsed through hundreds of WC listings now. I guess I must be getting close :)

I didn't say that.
The copy/paste was from the St Hallett web site, matches the VM info exactly.

St Hallett is listed under Various as the region for winery, so the Barossa search doesn't include it in the results due to Wine Companion not handling winery region vs wine region (and many other search and data deficiencies).

Oh - When I read the tasting notes available here (linked from https://www.sthallett.com.au/our-wines/red-wines/the-reward-cabernet-sauvignon.html -> http://www.lioncowine.com/DownloadDocument.ashx?DocumentID=3114) it says:

Technical Information:
Alcohol : 14% pH: 3.59 Titratable acidity: 7.0 g/L

which doesn't match, hence my earlier comment. They must have other details somewhere else. We better sue them for misleading conduct :p

Edit: I see the details you've cut-n-pasted now on the tab at the bottom of the page. Odd that they are so different, in the one place to boot!

Yeah, VM are not the only ones that can't update web pages with the correct info. The one on the tab may be for a different vintage and they forgot to update it. Or they didn't update the pdf properly for the new vintage...

My heart sank for a second there - I was hoping for st hallett. I did my own research though and it definitely seems to be it. Hope vinomofo are starting a partnership with them.

Does anyone have any ideas about the Black Market 2013 Chardy? The K1 by Geoff Hardy looks a possibility but I can't find the CM review or any tasting notes for 2013. Any ideas?

I have not tried the reward, big fan of their shiraz though. Has anyone tried it and have an opinion?

Did a tasting @ St Hallets 2 weeks ago, had the reward and I don't remember it standing out.. which isn't a great sign.. though it also means it wasn't terrible.. Lots of fruit, less of the more interesting (to me anyway) chocolate and mint flavours

Best of the stuff they had available for tasting was the Scholz for mine, this years Blackwell didn't do it for me and neither did their Eden Valley one.. a touch too peppery.

The Butcher's Cart is pretty impressive, though. We tasted the 2013 a few weeks ago and while I would think it has a moderately long future in front of it, it's remarkably approachable already. Fantastic fruit, restrained oak (mostly American, I would think - sweet and vanilla), long finish, soft but persistent tannins. Perhaps a little simple for some, but certainly no shrinking violet.

Today's VIM is a bit unexciting; the discount on the Pinot isnt worth much.

Neither are made in big quantities, so I wouldn't expect it to be super discounted...

FWIW, I think both of them are okay deals on really good stuff which isn't easy to come by. I guess you can just as easily pick up a GS for similar money (in smaller quantities) though.

True. I dont really know either wine that well but I'd have thought a slightly larger discount for VIM... either way I dont fancy shelling out $300 for 6 bottles of a wine Ive never heard of.
