Vinomofo Wine Deals

I wish! But it's highly unlikely.

The Halliday score fits, but there is a problem with this part of the description:

"but literally because these magnums are going for the same rate as the regular sized bottles (now long sold out)!"

The regular sized bottles sell for $95 from the vineyard (listed in the ad as $64 a bottle) and are still available.

More problematic is that the alcohol is 14.8% for the 2010 Command and 14% for the Black Label.

A mate and I decided to go halves, so we do wish! Although, as you say, unlikely.

I did think about that price comparison, but thought it could have been a bit of "creativity" on their part. Were the 2010 750mL ever on VM?

As for the alcohol % - I'm new to the VM game, is it usually exactly right? Do they ever round it off to put you off the scent?

'As for the alcohol % - I'm new to the VM game, is it usually exactly right? Do they ever round it off to put you off the scent?'

Although their actual descriptions sometimes use creative license, they are usually very accurate in the figures they use. Can't recall it being rounded previously.

Please let us know what it is once it is delivered. This is the second time its been on their site and it's likely to reappear in the future.

Don't believe so.

They would be well advised NOT to "round" the alcohol percentage. Although liquor licencing varies state by state, the general principals about adequate (and correct) labelling of bottles and advertising material across the supply chain is well established. There are also tax implications. Frankly it's just something you comply with.

It is pretty black and white, and as such it a good way to help narrow down secret deals.

However as Dr Ralph says, they can use a reasonable amount of creative licence with their worded advertising.

Finally had a chance to open a bottle of Old Money over the weekend.. With a bit of air it certainly opened up and for $15 quite good.

Whilst me descriptive notes are quite poor I found it reasonably balanced and of good length.

Anyone else opened one yet?

Not yet Tim Nitschke, but I will hopefully taste some this week.

This wine is Hewitson The Dorrien Bank - haven't tried it yet.

Speaking of which, does Cellar Door count for that promotion? :p

douglasjm, I assume you've already purchased this? If so thanks for identifying it here.

I'd considered this as a potential for the wine when it was originally advertised but had dismissed it because of the alcohol content was wrong. I note that the Hewitson website (
http://hewitson.com.au/page.php?section=791&mId=1741&catid=779) lists the alcohol as 14.1% whereas the vinomofo site lists it as 14%. As far as I'm concerned this is misleading and deceptive conduct from vinomofo.

Different vintage?

Nope. Hewitson website URL I provided is for the 2010 and the Vinomofo deals is also for the 2010.

Makes it very hard to identify when these types of errors occur.

Agreed! Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often.

Any hints about the black market pinot noir today? $10.50 down from (probably inflated) RRP $35. Adelaide hills and 5 star Halliday winery.

I'm tempted to jump on it but fear it could be GISA (which is nice but want to try something new) again.
