I went for Blackbutt and it was ok. I don’t like WA shiraz so would never consider it.Post automatically merged:

Depends on one's palate preferences I guess. For me, these are just about developed and ready to drink, certainly not on a downslope
Interesting to read this tasting note on Cellar Tracker (not that I'm disagreeing with you Dave):
Tasted on 14/04/2023
"Screwcap 14%. Deep garnet still, but with a hint of aging at the rim. Some development here; a mix of leather, malt, liquorice and blackberry. Touch of sweet vanilla oak too. Medium weight, a bit warm on the finish. Age is much more apparent on the palate than the nose, with a fading of freshness without compensatory complexity, alas. Low softly dusty tannins, fairly simple. Patchy sort of finish, still with some sweet ripe fruit, short/medium length. OK, no more. No need to keep; probably past peak as far as development goes."
Fair enough. I enjoy the not so heavy, savoury style of WA shiraz. A couple of recent good discoveries have been Three Elms from Frankland and Marchand and Burch villages Shiraz. And Picardy has long been an old favourite. I'm less fond of the bigger styles from Barossa and McLaren Vale that seem to be the bedrock of mof_ these daysI went for Blackbutt and it was ok. Nice - enjoyed the Blackbutt (after said breathe). Wasn't a fruit-bomb but really nicely played, I thought.Yep, both the Jarrah and the Blackbutt are gorgeous, especially these 2013s. Give them a decant before serving
Looks like this one has expired now, but If you use code VIM it'll give you the same $15 off, you can get a single 2018 Penfolds St Henri for $99 and free postage.$15 off and free shipping until Midnight. Code is SMS.
Hey aren't you the guy who was turned his back on the paltry online offerings from VM and the like and gone into purchasing purgatory?Nice - enjoyed the Blackbutt (after said breathe). Wasn't a fruit-bomb but really nicely played, I thought.
Looking forward to seeing if the 6 of Jarrah will be similar (ie, pretty excellent value at $17/btl delivered).
Personally I've liked plenty of WA shirazes and it's a nice contrast with christmas cake from SA (which I am also partial too). I think the common theme in these widely different plonks is carefully fermented red grapes. Nom nom.
Oh goddam_!! You are so right... It seems I temporarily lost control of my very rational position... again. I am now entering a deep spiral of self-loathing. BoohooHey aren't you the guy who was turned his back on the paltry online offerings from VM and the like and gone into purchasing purgatory?
I have enjoyed the 2019 and 2020 Lear but not seen the 2021.Thanks but I preferred red wines. Seems not many attractive deals from VM even they have the coupon code this morning. Only the Haselgrove The Lear Shiraz 2021 has drawn my attention.
That's what I found based on 'uncovered'.I have enjoyed the 2019 and 2020 Lear but not seen the 2021.
Did you mean the Hasselgrove BV Shiraz 2021

Amongst the most best McLaren Vale brands, Haselgrove are continuing to hit strides. And what better wine to find out of the Vale than the trusty shiraz?www.vinomofo.com
If not can you post a link to the 2021 Lear?
I had an earlier vintage of the Lear and it was good, (not sensational) albeit too young. But how they come up with these $100 RRP is beyond me. I always wondered whether they sell any at anything close to the stated RRP?. Then again, one is born everyday..That's what I found based on uncovered.

I heard about the Lear for while from this forum but never buy one. Maybe wait for another code later.Bought the 21 Lear. The first time I drank it, I was a bit underwhelmed.
Cracked another bottle recently and thought it was pretty decent, young and fruit driven. Maybe worth a bit above $30/bottle, but definitely not $100.

Sometimes VM offers Nick Haselgrove wines. I found The Old faithful shiraz to be better than Haselgrove Lear to my taste. Of course YMMV.I heard about the Lear for while from this forum but never buy one. Maybe wait for another code later.
Many ThanksThat's what I found based on 'uncovered'.

I have tried a couple of earlier vintages and I agree. Definitely wouldn’t pay RRP but don’t mind them at $30.I had an earlier vintage of the Lear and it was good, (not sensational) albeit too young. Even with codes I’m not being tempted these days.Might need to wait for a decent code to get me over the line
