Velocity to partner with 7-Eleven

The end owner of WWP/fuel which is EG, still holds the name of Woolworth Petrol/fuel outlet near my place, so it would be a while, if ever they decide to break up that relationship.
Even though the end owner is EG, which is now separate to WWP, the name still of WWP still exist.
So don't think any changes there will occur anytime soon.

Just found that the deal that EG has have in regards to Woolworths Rewards is until 2035. So yes a little way off!

Pity they let BP slip away. I assume previous management and poor relations with BP caused that one.

Any Coles sell off via Shell will probably go down the same path with fly buys and long term deals so not many options left. BP! 🤣

Coles recently scaled/had drawn back/down their partnership with Viva some few years back. Ownership of the sites and the petrol prices are directly controlled by Shell Australia (Viva) whereas previously Coles had a larger control in the operations of Shell Coles Express.

Coles Express (Eureka Operations Pty Ltd) only manages the convenience store and the maintenance of the Petrol Station forecourt.

Umm have you ever bought anything in a 7-Eleven (store or petrol station). They're up there with IGA by having extortionate prices for things.

7-Eleven are usually the cheapest of all the major petrol station franchises for both fuel and in-store purchases (eg $1 coffees and $2 banana bread/muffins)

So, no 711s in South Aust, but there are no X Convenience outlets outside Adelaide/South Australia.
There are it seems Liberty fuels in Qld/NSW...
Would probably spoil the Coles Express/Coles FB alliance with VFF, if VFF did do a bonus points agreement with say, X Convenience or with Liberty.
With VGW now gone, there is only the FB and credit card points transfers, the only non flying way of keeping VFF account alive, and avert points from "expiring"/account closure due to no activity, seeing we now can't fly internationally till 2024.
Or with domestic borders open, then closed, then domestic quar(o), then no, ...

Lucky for those of you who live where there is a 711 fuel outlet, $$$ or cheap.

Why would this be an issue? It is exactly the same scenario as WWR partnering with one fuel brand while QFF partners with another.

Yep Sudoer.
Can say that the FF points earning system, as it is now, is a bit more skewed towards QFF.
We will have to wait and see what happens next, as all we can do is speculate.

I frequently use the 7-Eleven price lock app. Can save quite a bit of money if you lock in the right price before the price rise happens.

Looks like there will be a 711 points bonus on your first purchase. I guess they're just waiting on a tick from the ACCC.

Frequent user of 7-11 price lock.
And I use projectzerothree.info to get the most up to date 7-11 prices.

Current cheapest diesel is in Pascoe Vale South VIC. and U91 from Springvale South VIC
Sometimes the cheapest in in WA so I'll get it from there as well.;)

Aren't these partnerships kind of pointless from a points earning perspective? Maybe good for marketing, but in all honesty, who is ever going to buy enough petrol to get any substantial amount of points? If its 1 point/dollar and you regularly fill say 60 liters, you'll need 400 fill ups to get 24000 points. They had the same deal w BP before and it didn't encourage me to buy (overpriced) petrol at BP.

I find whatever the case, it's handy to have quick rough personal valuation for points. So if you're getting 1 point per litre, and the the premium to go there over the competition down the road is 4c/litre, if your valuation is <3c per point, generally better off going down the road.

Now that this has ACCC approval, I'm surprised we haven't seen any launch promo yet from Velocity/7-11. Is the partnership live yet?

Anyone knows if the diy storecard app where you type in the numbers into the generator works, and if its a QR code type of readrer or bar code type of reader that 711 will use?
I am going to BNE, but not till Jun, so if anyone tries the diy app card with storecard, and its works to get the points onto your VFF account, please let us know.
I am too lazy at the moment to phone up VFF and ask for a new VFF card without VGW capability.
My VFF card that is also the VGW card, did not have the bar code on it.
OR if anyone has their new VFF card, issued recently, without the VGW capability, can you see if it has a barcode on back of it?
Ta.

I heard you add the VFF number to the 7-11 app

You'll be able to swipe your Velocity card, or scan the My Card in the 7-eleven app. In WA, you'll also be able to scan the Velocity Digital Card.
