The 7-Eleven chain of petrol stations has applied for ACCC authorisation to partner with Velocity Frequent Flyer, presumably in response to BP switching over to Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Interim authorisation could be delivered by May and a final determination is expected in July 2021. if approved, you'd be able to earn and redeem Velocity points at 7-Eleven stores.

There is one BP at St Peters, one on St Bernards Road, and one at Mile End.
Sometimes, it worth it to make an effort to get to a BP (not an "OTR" sort of BP.
711s never opened in Adelaide.
Edit: it will be sad, if Coles Express decides to make it 0.33 FB points per $1 spent, instead of 0.5 per $1 spent, as it is now, when this 711 and Velocity alliance goes ahead, (however though unlikely, it could happen).

A decent partnership, and helps against the Qantas competition.
I think they make a good fit, both are cheaper brands – and I don't mean that in a rude way to VA, just that they're trying to cost less than QF these days I think and 7-Eleven regularly is cheaper against Ampol/BP. They also have a great app that allows you to lock in the price of fuel at any station you're nearby to then use at a station near home that has gone up in price!

I'm not sure 7-Eleven have cheaper petrol in my experience, but they certainly are a cheaper store & cheaper, sorry value-orientated themed store.
I agree good match with Virgin. I may stick to Shell though with Flybuys link.

Not sure which other petrol station they had left to deal with, as in who was left.

7-Eleven app, will take a look at it.
600 stores vs QF/BP 1,111 that optimize the BP Rewards program, seems similar comparison with QF flights share %% terms.

With the VFF Global Wallet card being discontinued, I wonder if there's a future plan to integrate with 7-Eleven's Just Go travel card.

Umm have you ever bought anything in a 7-Eleven (store or petrol station). They're up there with IGA by having extortionate prices for things. But sometimes the petrol is cheaper than BP. I only use BP because of the option to pay at the pump via app.

well if your comparing to Coles/Woolies or Aldi of course there're more expensive. Not sure about 'extortionate'.
Same if you look inside a BP, Caltex or Shell, prices on items don't compare to major chain supermarkets, but they do have the odd special priced item that is very competitive, all petrol servos/7-Eleven do.

I think this is more about the Petrol Deal with Velocity, not so much price of instore items, even though it's included of velocity points.

If you pay at pump, you may never know what's inside these stores!!

Out of interest don't other servo's have pay at pump options? I assume this, never use it.

Aren't these partnerships kind of pointless from a points earning perspective? Maybe good for marketing, but in all honesty, who is ever going to buy enough petrol to get any substantial amount of points? If its 1 point/dollar and you regularly fill say 60 liters, you'll need 400 fill ups to get 24000 points. They had the same deal w BP before and it didn't encourage me to buy (overpriced) petrol at BP.

It's not about points earning as such, it's about engagement with the brands.

These partnerships can become somewhat lucrative if there are good bonus point offers. But yes, failing that, they are not always worth all that much to the average person.

As @TheInsider said, the main beneficiaries of this partnership are Velocity and 7-Eleven. 7-Eleven sees it as necessary to compete with BP, Shell & Woolworths Petrol who all partner already with coalition loyalty programs. Velocity can use the partnership to increase its membership base and promote its brand at over 700 retail sites around Australia (it also gets paid for the points and receives a program participating fee from 7-Eleven).

Not true, on the surface BP offers at most 2 Qantas points per litre, in reality, I have always earned between 6-10 Qantas points per litre. Just have to align the top-up with their ongoing bonus points promotions.

They used to be Velocity partner w 1 pt/dollar spent if I recall correct.
