Thanks! :)

I'm usually a lurker on forums but figured should share my experience in case anyone else was wondering. I fly the modified ADL>MEL>CBR booking on Tuesday next week so I'll update once SC's post...
This will be of interest to me, as the week after I am doing an SC run (and a treat for myself). Booked during the promo, however then used a WP upgrade outside of the promotion period so ticket reissued. I think it will be OK but if not a phone call should fix it.

And welcome.

During the last NZ double status promo, I booked Sydney to Auckland return for Work, Qantas(el cheapo) there and Virgin(flexi) back (due to timing) however later I had a change in schedule and since I already changed the Qantas flight once they wouldn't allow me to change a 2nd time so I ended up Changing to to Virgin (saver) and Virgin (flexi) back after the promo ended.

The Booking reference for Virgin stayed the same and the both flights were one there, after I flew the legs double status was applied to both legs!

Yep same happened for me... DSC's posted for both legs on Friday! Looks like any booking made within the promo period remains eligible if modified. :)

Finally managed to take up the DSC promo and I've had 3 flights and none of them have credited so far. I know it takes up to 8 weeks, but I'm just being impatient as I want to see them hit my account!

Double SC came through along with the other flights.

In a battle with velocity at the moment. I had a booking MCY-SYD return that was made before the double SC promo. I had some business meetings change and needed to cancel the flights and fly BNE-SYD return, and was given a new booking reference and now I am being told they linked it to my previous booking that was outside the promo period. Waiting on confirmation now I have sent in both bookings and booking times etc... not the only issue I have had in the last 6 weeks with virgin. The other issue is much bigger and to do with Virgin wines. I will post that on another thread.

hmmm i basically cancelled my freedom fare then tried to rebook during the promotion period with a new PRN... I got an error of duplicate bookings so booked one hour earlier then modified it once it was in the system, the flight isn't until xmas so won't know if it will work or not yet. Seems to be coming through for people modifying existing bookings within the promotion period but this is the first i've heard of them linking new bookings to old bookings before the promo period.... let us know how you go...

I know these deals are tightly lipped by Virgin, but anyone have any inside knowledge if they will do another soon???? I believe this was the first domestic DSC of its kind with Virgin (could be wrong), but I would assume its a no brainer for Virgin and Qantas to offer again

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever but there was a good article/post somewhere that pointed out these deals are loved by the accounting department (sales) and not so much by the loyalty teams themselves or parts of the customer base.. (dilution of benefits etc)

It wouldn't exactly make too much sense to run more than 1-2 of these in any given year

As an airline, you'd want to be careful to time these offers when you don't have other offers or discounts in place - as much as possible (e.g. offering a DSC during a time of seasonal high fares might make sense as people would perhaps move bookings from shoulder/offpeak periods into higher revenue/margin seats..

Or do you use it as a tool to drive bookings to fill in 'flat spots' in your revenue forecasts.. but it's a sugar rush effect that wears off..

It seems to be a constant underlying debate even here in AFF - who is truly a FF? At one extreme is the POV that a J or F flying multiple international trips a year is 'really' one as opposed to a FIFO doing multiple weekly (daily?) cheapest FotD and grinding to status..

No, there have been others from VA. My flights show one in April/May 2016 and similar threads show ones in 2011/12 and 2016 [but tied in with Flybuys)

For the last 2 years around May/June there have been double status for July booking for those who book via a corporate traveller eg Corporate Traveller and Amex global business travel

Ah, of course, there would have been some years that I didn’t partake in those DSC’s.

Handy to be reminded, as one around July would be handy for my Gold re-qual. I’ve got a couple from the most recent DSC booked for May.

Out of curiosity, has anyone completed a DSC flight with someone else using family pooling on the same booking? The T&Cs were a bit unclear in the way I read them from memory (Although that may have been for the earlier NZ DSC Promo)

Handy for my platinum re-qualification June 27. Booked a couple in June including a single on June 25. Hope they don't take long to come.
Also booked 2 for July and Sept. All full economy so easily changed/cancelled. And also all upgraded to business on points as it was so far ahead!! I have enormous amounts of points but have to make sure every year I get my paid for 800 SC's and 8 travel legs first.

Gosh, if someone had booked return Perth to Raro via Syd and Auckland in business they could have done platinum in one hit!

So close yet so far. Did my run on Sunday but fell 3 short.

Have a flight tomorrow which will tip me over into SG. Spoke to Velocity to get the SC’s manually credited and tried to get bumped to Gold before tomorrow but they wouldn’t budge!

I seem to get 3 SC's per month average from shopping at Coles. Every little helps!

So I booked a flight for me & OH whilst this promo was on, with family pooling I'll get the points for both of us - realised that the offer was never activated on the OH account so I'm assuming that means I'll miss out in the DSC for her seat.

Any thoughts on what my chances are of getting the DSC added and the best way of going about it?

I think you answered your own qeustion perfectly. I think your chances are zero - but go and give it a go with CS. I've never heard of leniency because that is slippery slope for the program.

Curious,How long did it take for your double status to post after your original sc posted?
