I was working in Beijing the past few years and became VA Platinum whilst flying those very economical J fares with Hainan Group airlines between Australia and China.
I've since moved back to Sydney and did the United Airlines status challenge so now have *A Gold until Jan 2020.
Most of my business travel is short economy domestic with VA (so status really comes in handy) and I like to see where the best place to credit my miles when travelling internationally. I found a A$2k Etihad J return fare from Jakarta to Rome which will keep me VA Platinum this year.
I would also like to keep my *A going and am eying off Asiana's two-year qualifying period.
Trying to fit in a year's worth of international travel with only four weeks annual leave will take a bit of getting used to, but the new company has a few international projects on the horizon which will hopefully heat up in the future!
Currently saving my miles to fly in style to the 'Interhash 2020' in Trinidad and Tobago. Will definitely need to be lying flat after that. "R U?"
