I can book VA flights to Brunei - flown by Singapore and Silk Air I think, that will give me DSC as they are VA ..., but it won't let me book the premium economy - even though its available when i just book the singapore leg by itself. Too bad you can't mix up the Class on multiple leg travel!

No you wouldn’t get DSC as it’s operated by SQ and Silkair. Can only be a on a VA aircraft.

Anybody doing the Dunedin run and have a plan for a turnaround? Seems you can't sleep at the airport, the nearest accommodation is a bit of a distance, only to return a few hours later.
Thinking DPS is a better option for a same-day turnaround from my MEL base. Thanks to Mattg for compiling the runs.

Bang - and our domestic travel for the next three months is booked, 18 domestic sectors in total.

We've booked a mix of freedom fares and elevate fares (with promo codes) and a couple of business and business saver tickets (again using promo codes) for a couple of weekends away in TAS and SA.

Our family pooling situation is slightly complex as we both have gold (tussle over SC lol) and next week will pocket 840 SC from SQ flights. Anyway, decided to pool the entirety to significant other who'll now have platinum until May 2020 and be able to gift me gold - possibly platinum later in the year as well.

So we booked BNE-MEL and BNE-CNS enough to get my wife to get SG renewal for another year.
Contemplated doing a status run to get me to WP (currently at 600 SC) but my wife said save the money and spend it on upgrademe bids.
I already have SG to July 2020 but did not like having to pay for economy X seats which for me is the primary benefit of WP (ignoring HH Diamond benefit).
I made the mistake of being on 800 SC late last year and chose to direct 200+ SC to my wife to ensure she got another year of SG. Wrong call methinks.
I have had a longer plan of being at the supposedly sweet spot of SG to July 2020 with a northern American big points earner in that same month to get WP that year with a requal for HH Diamond.
Our international flights this year are with SQ, with which WP has no influence (e.g. lounges, upgrades).
I need to work out an algorithm to guide the best strategy for a particular flyer.

I have had a longer plan of being at the supposedly sweet spot of SG to July 2020 with a northern American big points earner in that same month to get WP that year with a requal for HH Diamond.

My understanding was once you have used the HH Diamond match it's not available again, even if you soft land to Gold then requal for Platinum.

Would be curious to know if people have had it trigger more than once.

I think in the early days it worked, but it's been tightened up.

Able to make two bookings before the expiry of the offer (not without trouble as VA website still seems to have a residual Sabre issue).
BNE/SYD return and BNE/MEL return - not complaining, that's an extra 50 SC's I don't have to earn BIS towards renewal.

Doubt I can arrange others before the cut-off.

Can anyone explain why when I add a promo code and try to book a flight the next page never loads just keeps thinking forever!? Should I wait it out? In the end I just end up closing the page.

On Friday, there was a major outage for Sabre (the GDS Virgin use).

I still had troubles this morning and ended up ringing to make my bookings with VA and Amex Travel.

I also recommend trying different system (I use Firefox but Internet Explorer or others may work)

Maybe not be the greatest value, but as I only needed 430 SC booked SYD-BNE-CNS for $377 each way as FREEDOM fares before promo expires. That price seemed to work on a few different dates I punched in, using CMT46.

Fully cancellable, and as Margo pools to me or v.v., gets 440 SC.

Best bit in my view is, we can both use the free Platinum upgrades on all 4 legs which last year I did not bother using.

Cairns is not a bad place to spend a few days, and a freedom fare for that price seemed pretty cheap to me.

In Hong Kong now on one of those amazing $A1500 round trips in Virgin Biz, ADL-MEL-HKG-SYD-MEL-ADL ... wish THIS qualified for double SC - a mass of them there for 2 pax for $1500 all in.

The cheapest air bnb i saw was $60 a night in Mosgiel with taxis $45 each way for a 15 min ride. I think I'm still young (and definitely stupid) enough to do it but hey I won't need to pay for food or beer for two days between five flights and associated lounge access (incl WP on arrival). Only downside is no lounge in Hobart or Dudedin on departure. Hopefully, the new Intl Virgin lounge in BNE is ready by June!

Book initially without your VFF number. Then manually add your VFF later through "manage my booking". Will work as long as the name etc is an exact same match

After cancelling my freedom fare I tried to rebook and it gave me the duplicate booking message and wouldn't let me proceed. So a booked an hour earlier then modified an hour later. All done within the booking period, do you think the small modification will make it ineligible somehow? I will call up anyway if it's not credited at time of flying.

How do people position for this run (if you're SYD based) ? I had a look at it and I basically couldn't work out the two things to make it work for me - how to be there (and return) and how to make the $$s work out as I just couldn't see the prices others are seeing for the dates I could travel and especially to add in the positioning costs.
