Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

3 days after second shot I got an email saying ‘vaccination status status is available to view’ in MyGov. I now have ‘COVID-19 digital certificate’ in my Medicare app stating ‘This individual has received all required COVID-19 vaccines.’

Now if only there was someone to show it to.

They sure as heck don't give a rats at Adelaide Airport where there was a five minute inquisition last Friday night having come from Sydney, and husband couldn't resist asking - "are you also going to ask if I'm vaccinated?" (He is fully now.) Harumph. Move along.

Luxury Escapes is giving a $200 voucher for those who register online as having been vaccinated, but for overseas travel. One day.

2nd Pfizer shot at Olympic park yesterday afternoon.
Seemed to be a lot busier than 3.5wks ago.

Was out that way and had a meeting cancelled so decided to go early. Barcode only valid +/- 2hrs and I was 3hrs early so I got sent to Help tent round the back where I waited behind about 10 ppl trying to change their 2nd appointment.. apparently since they opened Pfizer for 50-59 Olympic Park is booked solid and online people are getting dates in 7-12 wks.

Anyhow no problem altering time, they checked me in straight away, and gave me the 2nd barcode and then went in the back via a shortcut through the back of the first tent...

Took about 10min to get inside the building - Pod 1 this time which has 42 injecting stations versus I think 36 in Pod 2. Wait about 10min for my number, usual questions, jab and a 15min observation.

Arm was probably less sore than after the first jab, but was a little of this morning and got cold around lunchtime today (not significant, just enough to add an extra jumper). Had a small nap about 5pm but feeling fine now.

Had my first AZ shot very reluctantly today at 1.30pm at my regular GP. Feeling very disposable as a person of 60.5 years. Feeling railroaded and resentful. Actually cried a few tears of rage, despair and frustration in the 15 minute wait and not one person even asked me if I was ok. I’ve just been a compliant sheep.

Jab itself totally painless. Not given any information at all about clotting side effects or how to even know if I get a clot. Oh well, it’s done.

That sounds very odd. I assumed the flyer of information that is given and explained to you at vaccination hubs would also be standard and available at GPs.

Parents had their second AZ shots today at a state centre because the GP practice where they got their first dose was unreliable and unprofessional and cancelled their second dose booking. Dad also said the Olympic Park was super efficient.

I had my first AZ a couple of weeks ago in one of the big vaccination centres in Adelaide - Masters built a nice big shed but never opened the store so it was perfect with lots of room for separate areas.

Very efficient - filled out a form with Medicare details etc - then asked was I AZ or Pfizer (I did suggest Pfizer would be good but she look at my DOB and said yeah nup - AZ for you)

Short wait then you're allocated a booth - then a bit later get the jab - you get a sticker with the time you can leave and you go out into the waiting area and given a heap of paperwork on possible side affects and what to do plus my vaccination certificate.

Bit lethargic that afternoon and woke with a bad headache next day and felt pretty flat all day but Panadol soon fixed headache. No pain or discomfort on vaccination site at all. Next day good as gold

Good on you champ, nice work.

Chin Up, brighter times ahead for all.

You should report the fact that this GP failed in their duty of care to give you necessary information on what to look out for wrt potential blood clotting side effects.

Some on this thread go on and on about how GP channel means you get better information and health advice, but your experience is yet another example of why that isn't so.

The mass vaccination centres have one purpose therefore are properly resourced to provide literature and advice re what to look out for post vaccination. GPs are juggling vaccinations between seeing sick people.

But then, there are experiences like mine using my GP Clinic in Canberra which were totally the opposite - in terms of making bookings for the 1st and 2nd AZ jab online, the nurse took me through all of the information regarding potential side effects very thoroughly, and I received a quick note a week after my 1st jab (the 2nd will be at the start of Aug) about looking out of any ill-effects - and there haven't been any. My parents in their 80's up in Hervey Bay have also had a smooth run via their GP.

I don't think one approach is necessarily better than the other, they're just different and as humans are involved, there will be good and not so good experiences as we go along.

26 hrs post AZ and arm is now feeling ok. Have still got a slight headache though. Also have just spent 3hrs at an ACT govt walk in clinic to be diagnosed with allergic conjunctivitis in both eyes. They suggested it might be related to vaccination- or maybe not. At least it’s not the contagious type but my eyes are still running, gummy, itchy and sore.

Had my 2nd AZ shot at lunchtime. No sticker, no lollies and still no Medicare update to say I've had both shots.

At least they were only running 10 mins behind schedule this time instead of 45 minutes like with the first shot 🙄

Is there any concern by some that aren't getting the vac showing up in their medical records?
Do we assume they'll just show up later at some point?
If there's some error on the system, how would one go about proving it down the track? Of course there be a record somewhere of who had each jab, but a hassle it would be chasing this info if req'd immediately, for whatever reason.

Btw I had only 1st jab so far & it showed up in Medicare app next day.

Your question prompted me to check my records, which I had not done previously.
Medicare account shows my first dose, with correct date.
Posting this, just as a data point.
If yours is not showing, it could be worth following up.

When I got my first vax I was told it would take 'weeks' to show up online....but it took 2-3 days.

Mine is showing up as fully vaxxed now too. Covid and flu. Will print out before NZ trip in a few days.
