Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

One of my staff turned 40 today. He spent an hour or so online trying different hubs and GPs to find a Pfizer appointment, just submitted his leave request (my employer is giving leave to staff to get vaccinated) for 30th July, I just approved it.
My eldest daughter (41) had her second AZ shot 3 weeks ago, and I had mine today. Older daughter had quite a few friends in their 40s who became quite ill, and the local NHS GP recommended they get whatever is available. So like 40% of persons vaccinated in UK she joined the AZ queue. Mrsoatek has had her first AZ and at 8 week mark, so will check with her GP whether to bring second shot forward.

Younger daughter waiting for Pfizer here, but hopefully can snare one with the vaccine becoming available locally in next week or so.

Even if we don't have to use those doses, don't you think other countries in need like Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand would be grateful for having access to such vaccines from us?
The government is going to send 2.5 million to Indonesia: Australia to send 2.5 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Indonesia and offers emergency aid as COVID-19 crisis deepens

Depending on the situation the government could decide to increase its donation.
Well, I'm off for my first AZ this afternoon. I'm 33, spoke to the GP who indicated he had no issues with me getting it.
Good on you. All my immediate family have had at least one shot of AZ without any side effects. I'm also under 40 and had my first AZ just over a week ago.

So just had my second jab of AZ.I did feel the needle going in this time but that went quickly.I had picked the first apointment after lunch.Told to be there 15 minutes early so I was.gave my name and showed the card from my first jab.Into the jab room.Had the jab and then as promised did the @JohnM act and walked straight out.Came back to my apartment and walked in just as 1400 ticked over.Very efficient. It was a GP practice.

Update from me:

No dice on AZ. I had discussed with my GP and went to the appointment (at a different clinic, as my GP surgery was not in the current rollout) - I had a discussion with the GP who would be administering the dose. He asked why I wanted it, what I knew about the pros and cons and read the letter from my doctor. He said he would do it if I pushed for it, but wanted to know more about my work. We discussed my work, and given that I work on a regular basis with those of our most vulnerable (elderly, disabled and homeless) he advised I was actually eligible for Pfizer in the current rollout. He asked if I would consider not getting AZ yesterday, and get Pfizer on Saturday. I was totally fine with this - I figured it's only a few days and then a shorter period between doses.

So, Pfizer on Saturday and again in 3 weeks - same time, same station. To be honest, I'm glad I was able to discuss the matter with the GP and he really genuinely listened and took the time to go over it with me. And I'll be fully 5G compliant in a shorter timeframe.

My partner and I (both in the 30-39) group were quick enough to book in for Pfizer when it was opened up in early June.

We had our appointments on Sunday at the Joondalup vaccination clinic. All in all it took us about 50 minutes from arriving to leaving and seemed to be quite well worked operation. No side affects other than the sore arm. Next dose booked in for about 5 weeks time.

My wife ran into an issue with the covid vaccine record. She had her first Pfizer shot last month and the second shot last week, but only her second shot appeared on medicare and the first shot was missing.

She contacted the national immunisation register but they said only the vaccine provider can update the record, any idea how we can reach the people administering the vaccine at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre?

I'd just go in for a 3rd pfizer shot. Gain even further protection? Would that be safe??

I saw where some young guy went out and got 2 of each. So has had four faxes. 🤣

Would there be any medical reason not to go back for another? At least the vax record will then show 2 jabs.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is in charge of vaccinations at the Convention Centre. You could try contacting them although they may fob you off onto the Covid Hotline.

Late starters?
Well I was working in Tassie until February.I wasn't regarded as a front line Health worker there so had to wait for 1b on the basis of age.but after 2020 we decided on a bit of relaxation and took a driving trip to South west QLD only to be trapped by floodwaters.
Then in April had a 2 week trip to WA planned.A week of that lost due to WA lockdowns to QLD.Then had 2 days there before plans totally upended by 2 cyclones.
So we both got our jabs on 22/4.Mrsdrron gets her second tomorrow - exactly 12 weeks from the first.

I would rather not get my wife to get a third shot if possible, Pfizer is in short supply in Australia and she would be taking it away from someone who needs it to be fully vaccinated. Not sure about the health aspect though, has there been any studies about a third Pfizer shot yet?

I will contact the Royal Melbourne Hospital and see what they say.

Mine showed up hours after I had my dose, I think. Glad I didn't have to follow it up. The second one showing up on time if full vaccination provides some benefits in getting some freedoms back, will be important.
