I booked a flight online to Europe, it was booked using virgin but all the flights are on a Singapore airline plane. I want to select my own seats but when i log into my velocity account i can see the fights but I cant select seats, it says to contact guest services. I rang guest services and they cant help me. I am also a kris flyer member so i rang them up and asked if i can add the flights to my kris flyer account but they cant do that and cant select a seat for me, the only thing they can do is put a request for me and when i check in i will find out the seat. Is there a way i can select a seat?
Thanks

When you phoned VA, did they give you the SQ PNR/reservation number for your booking and try to use the SQ app to select seats.

This is how I got it to work the last time had VA bookings on SQ metal.

good luck.

I just had exactly the same question (having booked one of "those" fares last night)!

I normally fly QF/oneworld internationally so hadn't come across this problem before. I'm surprised they make it so difficult.

Will try getting the SQ PNR...

Re: virgin booked, flying singapore seat selection?

I rang virgin and got the Singapore booking number, but it wont let me log in

Same same.

SQ Manage booking error said:
Enter a valid SQ/MI Booking Reference/E-ticket number.

The Virgin consultant did go "Hmmm" at the end of call.

Anyone got to actually select seats as yet?

The app used to allow you to see seats, but couldnt make them stick. I usually call SQ with their PNR and they are normally helpful, however not always successful. As a platinum im usually satisfied with the seats they allocate on the day anyway when prompted for good seats, last 12/12 flughts in y have had exit row provided when flying Y in 777 so heaps of room

Once you have the SQ PNR, you have to call SQ and then go through seat selection on the phone.

It's handy to do a dummy booking on the SQ website so you can see the available seats.

And have you been able to select seats?

Normally when booking with 3rd party you need to first get the SQ PNR then call them to reserve seats.

Did that today successfully for all VA "mistake" fares.

For all? How many did you book? ;) You do realise that SQ economy is nothing like the Apartment thingy you've been used to flying!

You know me too well JohnK ;)
For $300 I'm happy to do medium-haul in Y and save the points for J/F long-haul flights to Europe and USA.

One thing for sure I'll never be as hard core as you booking that cheap VA fare USA return same day in Y!

I have managed to surpass that this time. I will be either flying or in an airport from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. I have booked 2 red eyes. Ready to sleep in KrisFlyer Gold lounge chairs again. ;)

Wow going to be full on weekend for you. Is it one of those status runs I read about so often here on AFF?

The status run was a no brainer. Going overseas for the weekend is priceless.

I hope others have better luck...got Sq PNR from Virgin. rang Sq...whilst they can see seats, they are unable to book any in Y...can only put in a request, and will find out what seats are allocated at 48 hours:(

This happens when a flight gets to certain load. I had the same issue recently. There were plenty of aisle seats but all I could choose were middle seats. Call them and they said there's a good chance of getting aisle seat but they cannot pre-allocate.

They lost the airfare.
