If 32" pitch is a good selling point then 6" recline is a huge detractor.

Is this a wind up or genuine interview?

V Australia will not be getting any of my business at any price. Think Air Asia, Viva Macau, Oasis, Jetstar, Air Austral etc etc....

Is this a joke?!? I thought V-Aus was supposed to be a 'full service' subsidary of DJ?

Having 10 abreast in Y is not a LCC thing.

Both Emirates and Air France have 777's with 10 abreast in Y.\\nayhow it is all mute as VA have chosen 3-3-3.

If you look at Godfrey's response, he has said they have gon 9 abreast, for now. It certainly leaves open the possibility that they will change to 10 abreast at a later point.

I wouldn't read to much into it. I think he was trying to point out some airlines have a more dense confit so fly va and have more space. Probably not the best execution though

Am flying V-Australia Syd to LAX late April. Just checked and plenty of vacant seats at this stage. Can anyone who has flown both ways recently please advise if in fact their flights were full, or was there plenty of room to stretch/change seats?

My flight was very much not full. At check-in we were informed there were ~80 empty seats - & most of these seemed middle row whereby one person had the whole thing to themselves. Also, there were a considerable number of pax in Y who were VA staff returning from LA )this was the 2nd flight for VA001). We had 3 seats between the 2 of us so OK room. I'm 5'9" so it wasn't anything too exciting but if you're a shorty, well....;)

Sounds very good, but at $5999 for a business class return fare, wouldn't spending a little more on a RTW be more cost effective? They're not that much more expensive are they, or am I getting confused.

Granted an RTW isn't the same. But from what I've read here, they seem to be just a bit more for a lot more.

A DONE4 (RTW in J Class with oneworld) is closer to $10-11K, so they are still quite a bit more.

Yes if done from Australia. (But they can be cheaper if you start in another country)

But the point about these fares if is its easier to get availability, the RTW fares book into classes that ensure its not always easy to get seats.
Not to mention you have to go around the world... not everybody wants to.

I just go "meh" at it. I'm sure it misses every target market by a mile.

Nice production, but doesn't say much/attract much attention or give much information. As for Branson's closing line, it doesn't make sense unless this was only intended for airing before launch.

I guess it gets the point accross that they have a buisness cabin and are not low frills across the pacific.

It's certainly different to QF :rolleyes:

unfortunately it didnt really make me want to fly VA particularly.

My sentiments exactly. Nothing about the ad gives me any reason to choose them over another airline.
 
My neighbour was in 1A on the inaugural V Australia BNE/LAX service. He gets back from his trip today, so I am interested to hear what he says about the service (and the FA's). Considering his control of a very large corporate spend, V Australia have been chasing the account for a while.

Interstingly, he was flying back on QF in J yesterday (as a way of direct comparison in a short period of time), but they canned his scheduled flight and put him up for the night in a hotel. I'm sure he wasn't too impressed, as instead of getting home and having a day off to rejunivate, he's flying back (day flight) and straight to work :shock:

The ad certainly does nothing for me...service will not be like that from the FA's. And as for the throwaway line from Sir RB, pfft. He only ever thinks with the wrong head :rolleyes:...
