Bet VA are loving that , not.

Seems to be what everyone wants, travel QF at VA's expense.

Well what else are we supposed to do?? i booked the trip with the intention of flying out on the dates i picked with VA, not might fault that they were selling tickets earlier this year for this far in advance.....

another point.... there is more chance alternative flights will be with UA, not QF, so QFF & SC's wont be an option.

i will be quoting my case, travelling with a 2yr old, United Airlines, you dont have your own tv screen to entertain a child... may seem whinging a bit, but travelling with a 2 1/2 yr old you need to keep them entertained.

no idea what is going on anyway, maybe i will try and call them..

Hey, by all means I know what you are saying, and fully agree, it just makes it more of a long shot given the small, but long time alliance DJ & UA have had with code share flights etc etc (I know the flights are with VA but Virgin is Virgin).

I think it is wrong that UA dont have seatback screens etc for such a long haul flight (fly out of NZ on one of there 777's and do have this option). I know this is changing soon, but prob not in the next few months.

i have heard a few unconfirmed reports that the actual first flight for V Australia will be on the 27th Feb as the plane will not be arriving until mid january... can anyone also confirm this or hear anything....

That is consistent with rumours. But I doubt even V-Australia know the exact dates with any certainly. Until they receive the aircraft and then receive the AOC, any date is not guaranteed.

they are now rebooking people from 1 feb to 13 feb

Thanks for the update. Heard absolutely nothing from V regarding this - even though I fly out on the 2nd. Is it so hard to flick a generic automated email to the guests in question?

Just called V. Apparently they are too busy re-booking to inform passengers of the suituation. I have been asked to call back tomorrow when they have access to a 'spreadsheet'????????

Terrible communication. Are they trying to hide the further rebooking from the media?

Have heard several rumours, but will be interesting to see what happens. It's good to see that V Australia is re-booking passengers until they launch, rather than leaving them in the lurch (ala many other carriers...)

It is good, but i think they realise its in there best interests. It has been hinted that there loads have not been so heavy so its not been a big deal, also people are given an option to defer to a later flight which for a lot of people may also be an option.

I think you will find that the early flights were yield managed to low loads when they first went on sale. That is they purposely did not sell all the seats.

Yes, could well have been the case both in cases of cancel and also having an A/C go un-servicable they can bump to the next day, not to mention normal crew training and to validate all fuel burn calculations, would not want to get that wrong on your first flight would you !
(QF would know how each A/C burns fuel with a given load and would have it sorted out as best as possible)

Hi guys, 1st time writer, long time reader!

I was booked to fly VA to 17 Feb, returning 28 Feb.

I've just been rebooked on QF11 for the outward flight, but I've been told I'll be on the first ever return flight leaving LA on the 28th!

I have just rang V, and they had already rebooked me on a Qantas flight on the 19th Feb, when i was due to fly with V. I asked to rebook me a bit earlier, on the Sunday 15th and she did, also she said they will change my domestics flights that i booked to get into sydney to make sure i will get there in time for my QF flight on the sunday.

She was very helpfull and very fast and easily done! The VA Customer Service is great i must say!

im still looking forward to flying with them on my return leg to oz in March!

Thanks V Australia! :)

Yup, bought one of their $1k rtn airfares when they first released them. Travelling Y with Virgin, and when they rebooked me with Qantas on the way over, they've booked me in (O) class, so I can't use my QFF to upgrade!

Up the back all the way!
