USA ESTA

I travel frequently to the USA and always have an active ESTA.

When the upcoming EU one begins I will also have that held current.

I have been issued many ESTAs and never been reminded of renewing being required.
Must be that I am considered unimportant. Ce La vie.

Is there any date yet for EU?
From what I've read, it could be late 2024 or early 2025. But it's the EU, so who knows?

Anyway, I'm OK for the UK (just replaced my recently lost British passport).

Curious to hear others opinions on it.
You do what you need to do, while at the same time optimising.

I flew to USA in early November, my USA ESTA expired late November. Being booked to travel to USA again Jan 20, I renewed a week out on 13th,.approved same day.

What would have happened if my ESTA application been declined? I would have cancelled the trip.

I recently got an email about my US ESTA expiring, I'm 50/50 about renewing it because despite not having any US travel on the horizon last minute stuff can come up.

There are now a few countries including the US, Canada, South Korea and soon to be the UK and Europe requiring ESTA, has anyone made it a habit of keeping it up to date just in case or is that overkill given they don't take too long to get approved? Curious to hear others opinions on it.
I have a lot of last-minute travel but don't keep an ESTA active just in case.

Since they're not really visas + all electronic + come through quickly, I don't stay on top of them (or keep them active/on ice just in case) like I would for a visa. I take a look when I book something to see if it's still valid, and apply for another if not.

Also Australians (and a bunch of other nationalities) have been exempted from South Korea's K-ETA since March last year.

So, does this mean that to get into Europe at the moment (I'll be having a stopover in Germany coming up), we don't need any such documents/forms completed? (Just have a valid passport?)

I eventually went to an iPad and followed the instructions to photograph the passport.
It was straightforward from there. It seems that it doesn’t like the Mac system.

I did ours on a mac today but took a screen shot of each passport and uploaded that with no problems

USA does have Australia on the "you don't need six months on your passport " . I have checked on the updated Jan 2024 list from USA .
This is just a question about what happens antedocally not what is supposed to happen .
Has anyone been denied at Sydney airport with less than six months on their passport travelling to USA ? Probably Qantas maybe Hawaiian
Question:
April 2024 current esta expires , need to renew . Is there any issues with an esta being applied for, for passport that only has validity for four months
June 2024 - quick trip to USA
August 2024 - passport expires

Wasn't really wanting to get a new passport early just to have a few days in USA
Hope this makes sense :)

I took the now-Teen on a trip to the USA when she had less than 6 months validity left (and I wanted to squeeze every possible day out of that 5-year passport!).
No issues departing Aus or arriving in the US.

The ESTA will just be valid for the 4 months, and expire with the passport.

There’s no way I would not renew your ESTA as it runs out in April, and you’re travelling in June. Asking to be denied checking in.

Hi guys,
Hope you’re keeping well!
I had applied for ESTA on 7th July 2024 for my travel starting from 26th July.
I am on Australian passport since Aug 2023 & prior to that i had an Indian passport with valid US visitor visa.
I can’t keep dual citizenship so i had to renounce my Indian passport.
Now, the problem is my ESTA isn’t approved yet as I had marked yes to question where they ask about denial or refusal. I was refused Business visa in October 2012 due to 214(b) reason.
However, I will be surprised if that’s causing delays as I had received valid US visa on Indian passport & had travelled to states once in August 2022.
I am so stressed!!!
Any thoughts?
Appreciate it!

was this a last minute trip? Why apply so late?
At this point it is unlikely to matter if you cancel today or in 4 days so you may as well go up to the moment and then cancel when it doesn’t come through.
