There was a very interesting poll I saw on Planet America last night. In response to the question :-

“Accurate news stories casting a politician or political group in a negative light are ALWAYS fake news.”

42% of Republicans agreed.

Of course it’s uncertain whether they were too stupid to understand the question or just plain stupid. Moot point really .... and a sad indictment on those people.

Greens, many Democrats and even some in the Labor party here often call or infer conservative voters as 'stupid' (or 'deplorables', or similar). As did 'Remainers' in the Brexit debate and republicans in the Republic referendum here.

I'm OK with that; it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling of superiority, and gives them a reason to blame the voters rather than looking at their losing policies, which they then cling onto, to lose again. Also offends many undecideds &fence-sitters and drives them away.

Back on the topic of the US election, I'm now thinking the Democrat establishment is happy to relinquish the presidency to Trump for four more years, by putting up the dull and innocuous Biden, whilst firmly trying to retain control of the House and take control of the Senate. Put up a fairly neutral candidate, you direct the money into the local campaigns rather than risking huge donors railing against you both locally and for the presidency. A bit like the late Don Chipp - to keep the b@##ard honest.
