US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I think that's the only way to do it for TG? (meal can be ordered on line)

As for SQ - with the SQ R/L you can select seats on line.

You can email then to select seats, very efficient usually reply within the day confirming. Check available seats by doing a dummy booking on TGs website.

I called US Air and they gave me both PNRs. SQ was easy for seat selection. Called them to sort out meals and email from them for both seats and meals was received within minutes.

For TG, their Australian offices were closed so I called their UK number. Seats allocated but I couldn't get them to understand my meal preferences. I'll call Sydney number on Monday to sort this out.

You can do meal choices online. I've found if I ring up saying Vegetarian is OK, but no mushrooms (for my wife), they just say "well.. we can't specify that"...

the TG uk office are prats half the time... bordering in downright rude. they are useful for only the most basic thing like reserving a seat...

Still haven't quite figured out how to do online. Would I have to join TG loyalty program first, then link booking to profile?

TG doesn't have online seat selection - except at the time of booking when booking directly with them.

select meals? there is a separate button to click on for that. No need to be a TG member. All you need is the TG record locator. (you cannot select seats on line for an award booking like this.)

for two people I presume for $4500. Otherwise that's very expensive!

Last night successfully made my second ever redemption booking making use of the current bonus offer for buying points. It all went extremely smoothly, in part thanks to the extensive homework I had been doing on Expertflyer beforehand: All I class (Business)over the Christmas/NY holidays. SYD-ICN on OZ followed by ICN-BKK and BKK-KUL (both on TG). Return KUL-BKK on TG, stopover in BKK over NYE and back to SYD on TG.

I called US Airways, it took about 2 minutes for a very friendly guy called John to pick up the phone and he was one of the best airline phone agents I've ever spoken to on any airline which I still can't really believe. He was happy about me "having done his work already" by selecting all flights with I seats available, very easy on the ear for an American, knowledgeable and booked everything in within less than 15 minutes. He even wished me a nice evening at the end, adding that he knows "it's night time in Sydney right now". Wow! I applauded him on his excellent skills and customer service which was pretty much the exact opposite of my experience a while back when calling them.

That's quite a convoluted way of getting from SYD-KUL! Could't you get SYD-BKK-KUL? Or SYD-SIN-KUL? Or you just wanted to fly more sectors?

Oh sorry, yes- I should have mentioned this: I could have booked TG from Sydney directly to Bangkok but I've never been on Asiana before so was keen to do a little extra loop just because I could :p Needless to say that this earned me wildly rolling eyes from my better half who can be happy to fly business for that little money and hence had no say in this matter :D

worth it to try Asiana IMO, I really enjoyed this when I went SYD-ICN last year, superb service.

I helped a friend find flights for her trip to Europe in September.
When she phoned US she told the agent it was her first time :)shock:) and she was very nervous. The delightful lady took her under her wing, booked the flights with a minimum of fuss and even provided her email address to my friend in case she required any further info. Great customer service.

BNE-BKK-FRA (TG J) & FRA-LHR (LH J)
CDG-BKK (TG J) & BKK-SIN-BNE (SG J)

BKK-FRA & CDG-BKK are on A380s.

I also heard only good things about them so well worth a "little" side trip. In my very personal opinion this is ;)

Can you share the dates? Just that some are reporting problems booking LH flights which are quite far off.
