Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I didn't get the offer and have been able to upgrade two international flights, although I'm wondering whether to cancel the one next Sunday on the 747 and take my chances with an op-up!

If EF shows no ugrade seats does that mean my chances of an upgrade are nil or does this promotion counteract that info?
Upgrades for international upgrades using points are actioned differently from those for domestic flights.

Domestic are confirmed on the spot if available; if not you can keep trying.

International flights are waitlisted and Qantas Yield Management decide about a day or so before how many seats, if any, they will make available.

What does E/F show for the international flight flight?

My Y->J upgrade on QF74 cleared no problems, and after getting on board, I see why.

F cabin was full. Downstairs J cabin had 2, count 'em, 2 PAX. It was a ghost town.

No idea about upper deck, but I noticed it was all X'd out on EF around 3 hours prior to boarding, so I would have thought it was empty up there too.

EF showed a full Y+ cabin (Y+ and 2 rows of J) and a full Y+ sold as Y cabin, as well as around 50% load down the back.

I can only imagine that freight was a large amount of this flight, as I have it from a good source that a large number of seats were marked as not for sale on this flight. Still, 72000 points from Y to a F seat was well worth it for a 14 hour flight IMHO.

All my flights currently booked, as per other peoples reports, are available to upgrade although I'm not going to bother for domestic.

Just got a call from QF asking if I would change my flight from QF093 MEL-LAX to QF107 SYD-LAX-JFK. I said yes. I'm on an 0800 flight from MEL. QF107 leaves at 1150. That should hopefully give me a bit of time in the Sydney First Lounge (haven't been before).

After I got off the phone I realised I'd forgotten to ask about my seats (I had front row Y bulkhead).
Fortunately I checked and 40A & 40B bulkhead seats (with cutout) were available. Much better seats IMHO!

My upgrade I'd applied for has disappeared and I don't think I'll bother reapplying.
7 seats left in J
3 seats left in Y+

Just went back into my booking and found seats 40A & 40B on my booking had gone and I couldn't select any seats for the MEL-LAX leg! Rang Priority Reservations and it's because of the change of aircraft at LAX. Seats 40A & 40B were blocked out but apparently must have been allocated to me. They then selected seats for the LAX-JFK leg and the seat selection was successful!

I had a pleasant suprise- I saw this thread for the first time tonight and upgraded a $69 MEL-SYD flight next May.
