United Airlines Delays/Cancellations

Apologies, yes flight UA99 (MEL to LAX).

My flight two years ago was cancelled day before I was due to depart (same flight number) due to mechanical issues. I'm on the same flight next month and got everything crossed that I'm not in the same situation.

Nessa1977, understandable concern, but the good news is that this happens rarely. We can't rule it out but you would have to be unlucky for it to recur.
 
On Wednesday 5 June, UA101, the nonstop IAH - SYD long flight is arriving at 0732 hours, 32 minutes late with B789 N13954.
 
Sunday 16 June's 2245 hours IAH - SYD long nonstop, UA101 did not take off until Monday 17 at 0135 hours. Tuesday 18 sees it arriving at a suggested 0911 hours, 131 late with B789 N29971.

A good guess but in theory could also be something as simple as a flight crew member coming down suddenly with a virus. Were we to write a list of the reasons flights are delayed, when we got to the 100th reason it still wouldn't cover the field (depending on how much we wanted to split hairs.)
 
On Sunday 7 July 2019, UA870, the 1030 hours mid morning from SYD to SFO is expected to depart (American style) at 1331 (not 1330!)

However UA863 from SFO (due into SYD at gate time of 0655 on Sunday) is running about 22 early, so not sure why the departure is to be late.

Thursday 1 August's UA98 from LAX to MEL (due into the latter at gate at 0730 on Saturday 3) has been cancelled, so UA99 returning MEL to LAX will also get the boot.
 
UA98 into MEL on Friday 9 August 2019 is nominally arriving at 0803, 33 minutes late with B789 N26967. However at 0737 it was in a holding position just east of Bendigo, so the delay may rise.

Westerlies are gusting to 57kmh at MEL.

A333 Vh-QPC on the overnight redeye from KIX to SYD, QF34, should arrive at 0802 hours, 52 late.

Winds on the morning of Friday 20 September 2019 are gusting to 63kmh as at 0750 hours, although this is not apparent in many other Melbourne suburbs where winds are far lower. UA98 from LAX to MEL (B789 N17963) had to hold above Mt Buller for quite a while. It should arrive at 0811, 41 late.
 
Saturday 12th of October sees a late departure of UA863 SFO-SYD (B789 N26960), this should be arriving tomorrow at 9 45, 110 min behind schedule.
 
UA99 (1030 hours MEL - LAX on Friday 1 November 2019) has B789 N26967, taking off at 1203 for projected same day arrival at 0745 hours, 65 behind.
 
HA98 is arriving in MEL (ex LAX) at 1012 hours, 42 late on Melbourne Cup Day, 5 November 2019 with B789 N24972.

Saturday 16 November 2019's UA60, the 2245 hours SFO - MEL did not take off until 0105 on Sunday 17, so Monday 18 arrival was 1104 hours, 94 late for B789 N19951. It then operated UA99, the scheduled 1130 hours MEL - LAX that was airborne at 1313 hours for estimated arrival at 0752 hours same day, 67 late.
