The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Hi I need 160 status points to reach lifetime silver with the current double status offer has any one got any suggestions on the best itinerary to take to achieve this, not bothered about destination but must leave from and return to Brisbane. Or is not worth chasing as I'm a life member for Qantas Club.

Brisbane to Newcastle in business class return will net 160SC
Can be done as a turnaround and it’s pretty cheap.

Hey, thanks so much for everyone's help and patience! Even when it seemed like I was asking the same question yet again.

We just booked all our flights to qualify for platinum 1400 DSC by early next yr, starting from 0 SC as soon as our Qantas anniversary clicks over next month. Interestingly AMEX was cheaper than Qantas for one of the itineraries despite often being more expensive as Amex sometimes can't see cheaper fares. Worked out well as able to use my Amex yearly travel credit.

We're taking early retirement end of year and looking forward to travelling a lot more while we can.
Now just need to do some research for Business class seats to Japan, Europe and US. Maybe we'll need to buy a One World ticket, as already used our pts for the Qantas OW business award.

Have fun travelling everyone!

Lifetime Silver is a nice to have. It depends on your travel preferences how much value it would provide for you compared with just having QANTAS Club.

Silver gives OneWorld Ruby benefits so some benefits when flying partner airlines like BA and AA.

Silver gets extra points when flying QF compared with Bronze and is higher in the upgrade queue.

The lounge passes for Silver would be handy if travelling on a QF flight at off peak times with an extra guest above your entitlement as a QANTAS Club member

4x return double credit trips to Sydney in cheapest economy would get you 160SC (40SC for each return trip).

Depending on your spending patterns the up to 140 SC a year on the ground starting in December could make sense to use to get some of the 160 SC you need.

LTS also provides OW Biz checkin for ever more - that’s not to be sniffed at.

As is free seat selection on many OW airlines (although that perk varies a lot across airlines).

With the new QF changes, PS (and I assume LTS) we get an extra lounge pass?

my Points club plus says valid to December 2027

Im a March 31 anniversary and my PCP (and Green Tier) both go through to March 2028 (prequalified for both in the past few months since April 1). I am presuming that all the advertised perks of those programs (most tellingly the SC on CR earn, and the 100SC rollover) will be valid for me until then.

@sudeor currently i'm on 445 SCs but only 275 count towards the loyalty bonus. So if I get 225 more SCs, I get the loyalty bonus and that takes me to 720 and gold status.

I know getting to Gold wouldn't be cheap and certainly not cheaper that QClub membership but I'm not looking to do a status run as such. Basically, I'm considering chasing gold by organising a holiday before the end of November, and making it fairly expensive (by my standards) in order to reach Gold but I'm debating how ridiculous I'm being 😆

@SJF211 that's some really useful suggestions, thanks. I had a look further and a trip to NZ from Darwin with one leg in business would give me 200 pts with the business ticket sitting just under $10 per SC (or I could just splurge and do both legs business! That's just over $3k for 320 pts) and that'd be a holiday I actually want to take too. It's a little extreme but a little tempting but it sounds like a lot of us do slightly extreme things for the fun of chasing points, amiright?

If I'm being realistic, I'll just sit with my silver unless another DSC bonus comes along and then I'll splurge.
Well, sensible or not, I decided to go for it and spent a lot of money for the fun of getting to Gold:

With 225 points to earn before Nov 30, I'm turning a DWN-ADL work trip and a little holiday to CNS into a splurge that gets me to Gold for the first time ever.

After a very busy few months I'm giving myself a few days reward in Palm Cove, going DWN-BNE economy via CNS, then J BNE-CNS (about $975 total). My return trip is CNS-DWN in J ($720).

Then my DWN-ADL worktrip return, I"m paying $600 extra to return in J and I'll reach Gold on the last day of my Qantas year haha.

I know how ridiculous it is and how sucked in I am to their incentives but hey, it's a treat and a bit of fun.

At least you are making a holiday of it with a few days to relax in Palm Cove. The only ones I truely find ridiculous are when it's flying somewhere to get straight back on a return flight and never leave the airport!
