On Monday 7 May 2018, UA98 (B789 N26960) from LAX to MEL looks to be arriving at about 0850 hours, 85 minutes late. The 0925 hours MEL - LAX, UA99 is displaying as delayed by an even hour in its departure but this may be a slight underestimate of the likely delay.

One would hope that meals were included: buffet breakfast plus a two course lunch and dinner at a minimum. Reasonable if drinks not included.

UA98 arrived late in MEL on Friday 20 July 2018 so the return UA99 from MEL to LAX, the 0925 hours, did not take off until 1036. B789 N26966 should arrive at 0729, 54 minutes late.

This has led to the cancellation of UA99 today. It seems that the aircraft was meant tot depart NAN at 8 30am as a way to aim to operate the MEL-LAX leg late, but the service ended up getting cancelled.

If we could have accounts from any UA passengers as to what (if any) alternative flight they were placed on today (or made to wait until tomorrow) with hotel, transfer and meal arrangements (if any), that would be very informative.

One difficulty is that since a majority USA-bound flights depart MEL or SYD before 1000, there may not be many options left even if flights are not full. Thankfully late November (exception: USA "Thanksgiving") is not the peak travel time that our Christamas school hols are.

On Thursday 29 November 2018, UA99 took off from MEL at 1258 as against its 1125 hours timetabled pushback, so it will be at least 40 minutes late.

Friday 30 November 2018 has UA863 from SFO to SYD (B789 N27958) arriving at 0950 hours, 45 late. UA870 returning does not depart until 1300 hours so it should be unaffected.

Dec 14th sees a lengthier flight time on UA98 LAX-MEL which arrived until 11 09, 104 min behind. This further delayed UA99 MEL-LAX which departed at 13 28, arrival is predicted at 8 29 (N17963)

Sat 15th of Dec sees UA99 MEL-LAX, the 11 25 service depart at 15 02, arrival is revised to 9 50, 190 min behind schedule (N27964). UA98 arrived on time to MEL, so assuming may have been mechanical issue.
