Two Double SC offers in one year

Got mine this evening and yes it is my second for the year. I'll finish my membership year with >2500 SCs so any flights will be taken in my next membership year.

Now, should I look for a JASA?

I got this too and it's also my second this year. I also got comped gold at 360sc. I'll use this offer after 31 October on domestic jasa as that's when my new membership year commences. feeling very loved by Qantas this year .

My year also ends on 31 October, and I also got this offer! I'll be using it a fair bit in Nov/Dec - may even help me get to P1 next year as I would have requalled as Plat easily without it!

nothing here, currently at 0SC but my forward bookings have me requal for WP already and LTS this year so not an issue for me personally. Those of you that get it and get to use it go for it!

I'm thinking I'm going to miss out because I have about a dozen flights already pre-booked between now and next April? I had one booking. From all indications it's a lot of black magic how the recipients are chosen.

I'm thinking I'm going to miss out because I have about a dozen flights already pre-booked between now and next April? I hope there is still an email stuck in my ISP's gateway just waiting to arrive in my box!

I received the email around 4pm WST and I have about 6 return flights booked up until mid November. 4 were work orientated and 2 are personal. Hopefully I can make the most of the offer after these flights. Hope that helps.

I had 4 Y, 1 J booked for prior to 31 Dec, and 1 J, 1 F, 2 Y booked for early next year. Sitting on 0 SC.

No forward bookings at all (I only book a week or two in advance), but a history of around 8 QF flights/month for the last 5 years. I mustn't need to be lured.

Also currently 7 months into my qual year and it's looking like it'll be touch and go whether I requal WP, now that I'm being booked on 10 SC red-e-deals instead of 20 SC flex fares.

Just got another offer, thats two in one year, currently at 2100 SC with year end this month, odd! ...

Received the offer as well - I'm thinking that since I have not earned a SC for over three months it may have ticked the digital boxes.

I reached just over 2000 back in June and haven't earned an SC since (I saw no cost benefit on looking to 2400) - still no chance of using it for with only 13 days between the offer and the end of my "year". (already have bookings for 2013 that will get WP again.)

You should be able to get a full refund with DJ.

Stuck with the DJ booking on the direct flight as no good deals on the JASA on the dates of travel, instead booked a JASA BNE-SYD rt with QF.

Like Serfty I did a bunch of flying on QF but it all stopped about mid may, that seems to be at least one of the triggers for the offer...

I received the offer this afternoon. I have 180 SC in the bank (I'm SG, membership date is May). Haven't flown QF too much the last few months, just one BNE-NYC trip in Sept - mostly I have been enjoying the domestic benefits of DJ Gold!

It's a shame I got this today and not 2 days ago on the 16th when I booked both a rtn BNE-MEL for November and BNE-SYD for Xmas! Impeccable timing QF... and surely just coincidence! :S

Debating whether I should re-book for the DSC offer and bank my current flights for later... Would I be ridiculous to do so? At least the Mel flight will be claimable for work which helps, right? #frequentflyeraddict!

Doubt that is going to happen JohnK. In my case, what it has done is ensure I book QF instead of VA.. I am sure there are many in the same boat.

JohnK, honest question, what effect do you think Virgin have had on the number of QF elites?

Qantas would have lost a few elites to Virgin.

How do people define elites? Someone who does some serious flying. Those who are at Platinum One level or pretty close to it. Double SCs offers are not going to create too many elites, with the exception of simongr, as that still requires serious flying.

Not sure whether I would be classed as an elite, probably not, but I also do a lot of flying.

So someone receives a double SCs offer and gets to the next level then the year after does not receive any offers and drops back down a level. What have you achieved? You have encouraged that person to take a few extra flights. Wouldn't making airfares realistic again have the same effect and sell a few more seats?

And you are also creating an uneven playing field. How? I book all my flights in advance and earn Platinum status the hard way except for some creative cheating that everyone has similar access. Do I say congratulations to everyone who can get Platinum status requiring only half the flying? No. Why?

I look around me and I see Platinum benefits devalued, I see crowded lounges, it is becoming increasingly difficult to consistently get to the first rows of economy, I see airfares increasing (20%-50%) yet the cost for an any seat award staying the same, I see partnerships created that are of no use to me and my flying patterns, etc.

So what do I do? Firstly I fast track Lifetime Gold. Secondly I do enough flying to maintain Virgin Gold every year which is more than enough for me while I am commuting as that gives me luggage and lounge access. Thirdly I invest more money into buying AA miles and US Airways miles for my overseas travel which then provides me with luggage and lounge access.

So you tell me what has Qantas achieved with their non-stop double SCs offers?

I have 13 sectors (mix of long-haul INT & DOM) in the system through to August next year. I would have thought I would not be high priority to 'bait' with a DSC offer - especially as it's effectively only DOM.
