Yesterday we arrived into San Francisco after flying ADL-SYD-LAX-SFO.
About 2 hours into the LAX trip my wife looked at me, said she felt sick, then passed out!
We were in economy, upstairs on the 380, and within minutes the crew had her on oxygen, and lying flat over 4 seats. And that was where she stayed the rest of the trip!!!!
The couple next to her were thankful for their impromptu upgrade to PE (which was about 40% full, and so was I!
The flygirl was on oxygen twice for the trip and hardly moved other than a couple of vomiting hits along the way.
I know it's their job, BUT THE CREW WERE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. They took both of under their collective wing and kept me up to date on how she was, and also looked after me incredibly well.
We put the "problem" down to lack of a lot of air, being over tired, rushing to finish some jobs before we left, and catching a cold a day before we left, and taking cold and flu tablets, as she was fine after we landed in LAX, and is now fine sitting in San Francisco.
I know people like to complain and whinge about this and that on Qantas, and other airlines, but the professionalism, team work and team spirit on QF11 on Saturday was just superb, and it's something I think others need to hear about.
I've already passed my comments to Qantas via the feedback email I got, and I know my wife will be writing to them to pass on her personal thanks.
We have the names of the crew, and she will be mentioning them in her letter, but I thought this was worth sharing with others, particularly if you have any issues with flying.
Plus it's good to get a good news story about Qantas.

Its great to hear stories about great customer service. Stories such as these remind me why i love to fly with them. Keep up the great work QF.

Glad to hear your wife is doing well.

There is the "Bouquets for the FAs" thread in the QF section here that might be useful to call out the individuals. At least that's what i think its for.

Not sure if Red Roo reads this section or stays exclusively on the QF section. Im sure they would love to get the feedback.

Send a PM to Red Roo with the names etc. That's a good way for the recognition to reach those concerned fairly directly.

Good to hear flygirl is well again and can enjoy SFO :)

Posting into this forum is a very good way of acknowledging Qantas service. A direct message to Red Roo would be a good idea as it will get to the crew who handled flygirl.

Good to read all ok.

QF crew are very good and while whinging happens, it is mostly about stupid management decisions and lets not forget the downgrading people and messing them about with refunds/compensation.

I have never had a bad experience from QF cabin crew.

Make sure you take her recovery shopping in San Fran :D

If you've submitted feed back direct and posted here, perhaps a letter to the travel section of a newspaper.

Matt

On that subject has anyone gone to Brilliant Earth for retail recovery? I keep getting teaser emails and life isn't a dress rehearsal.
I was pleased to hear flygirl had recovered so quickly. Can we blame it on cold and flu medication?

So glad to hear Flygirl has since recovered. While our crew are trained to manage such instances, it's nice to know you felt supported.

Please do send me a private message with your flight details so I can follow up internally.

Thanks Redroo, the flygirl just sent you a PM. Thanks for the good wishes from everyone, she is currently using some retail therapy to get over it!!! New grandchildren and Carters stores are certainly helping!!!!

Great to hear your wife is feeling much better.
Must have been a little scary for you both in that situation.
I think sometimes its easy for regular passengers to forget just how well trained the Flight crew are and that they're not just there to welcome us on board and serve us food and drinks.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

!
I'm going to go with the meds, plus a little over tired, some stress from getting everything finished before leaving, and the thin air on the aircraft

I almost vomited and passed out a few years ago coming back from LAX-BNE on Virgin. I took a pain killer for my foot but I must have taken two because I got really sweaty and felt like I was gonna spew. FA gave me a cold washer and some ice which made me feel a little better.

Despite QF's inconsistency and the odd grumble from me, I genuinely don't think there's a better airline you'd want to fly if ever in a crisis situation. And that's down to the quality of the people behind it.

Nice story - so glad that flygirl is OK - and thanks for posting.

For those interested, the Flygirl came home on the weekend with me and had no dramas at all on the flight home on the 744. I suspect more than ever it was a combination of stress/meds and over tired. She is currently at her doctor getting a check up.

As we get a bit older we overnighted in Sydney before going to LAX this time. You might want to do that for flygirl if she gets stressed and tired.

I hear you, I always break my long haul flights up
