We enjoyed weight lifting, handball, volleyball, hockey, track cycling. Women’s weight lifting was a wow.
Flight prices will go up but to avoid that you might try a long cut to an adjacent country and then a short hop.
Prices might nudge up 25% but it may be less than that.

I can live with 25% I reckon. Will most likely approach from Singapore, although I suppose somewhere like Hong Kong or even Taipei could be possible.

Or look at flying into secondary cities as opposed to straight into Tokyo. For Euro 2012 i had tickets to a match in Wroclaw. Flights from London were about $600 return, flights from Bournemouth, 2 hours on the train away were $100 return.

I do adore Osaka and Hiroshima.

Ticket request window cuts off today, so for those intending to go hope you've put your requests in.

Thank you so much for posting this! I was expecting an email notification to say when the request window opens - perhaps my spam filters were too tight.
I still can't seem to see AU pricing - am I missing something? Do we go by the Japanese prices here?
Also, would you apply for multiple categories for one event? i.e. opening ceremony.
Edit: Just saw this:
Your request will then be confirmed from available inventory. For oversubscribed sessions (where demand exceeds supply), a ballot will be conducted in fairness to all participants. CoSport may confirm tickets only in a lower price category than what you have requested for that event (if available). For instance, if you have requested Category “B” tickets to an event session and there are no Category “B” tickets available, you may be allocated Category “C” tickets in order to fulfill your request. You will not however be confirmed Category “A” tickets in this scenario.

No confirmed prices as yet as far as I'm aware. Our strategy was to go for all tickets in the lowest possible category, aside from one or two exceptions. I guess we shall see.

Prices are now available. Base tier tickets to opening ceremony AU$209.91.

A reminder (as per email the other day) to reconfirm your ticket request on cosport.com by 11.59pm EST tonight (Saturday).

I have only JUST seen that. Christ almighty. I did resubmit mine on Friday, after their first reworking of the plan. If it had to be done again a lot of people are going to be angry.

Especially if they miss out.

Still no confirmation of tickets. Seems to be based on US calendar. So maybe this afternoon, but more likely later into the evening. They're a shambles this lot.

Bloody hell. Between the three of us who applied we got six tickets out of 60. What a debacle

Two events out of fifteen here, both for low tier events with no medals. No tickets for events where I anticipated high demand (ceremonies, medal events for swimming or athletics). Gut feel is to let these tickets go and see if we can get ceremony tickets when the open market begins.

I only got 2 as well, but they happen to be the mens football and mens water polo gold games. So a bit better. Wanted baseball though so will see what I can get in the next stage.
