Same here - QF009 in whY. Was practically "forced" to have a spa treatment! Got a massage and a facial; obviously, a very slow day.

F lounge time is great but it can get boring after a while.
I'll be passing through Sydney on Feb 8. Originally booked on a flight from Brisbane landing at 1025 for a DFW flight at 1540. Totally messed up the time calculations on how much time I would get in the F lounge. 60 minutes was not enough given transfer times! So I rebooked on QF8 from Brisbane to Sydney giving me almost 5 hours in the F lounge. More then enough time for Ms QLD'r and myself!
After spending time in the F lounge, I fear I will be unprepared for the Admirals Lounge when I fly from DFW to Cancun... Can't believe I have to pay for food etc... Even the Flagship lounges are pretty average... How do the Americans get lounges so wrong?!

+1I like the Flagship lounges. ...
I generally use the ORD A/C for a shower and the F/L for food.... Although I didn't like the ORD F lounge..... I relocated back to the A/C which I liked more.
I like the Flagship lounges.
It may get me expelled from AFF, but sometimes I just like to grab some decent hot food, a glass of wine and sit down with my Kindle and nibble away without going through a full dining experience à la SYD/MEL F lounge. The Flagship lounges I've been in (LAX and ORD) meet that requirement quite well.
The last time I was in the ORD lounge they had delicious prawn skewers. I went back about 3 times for more![]()
I see your point, I enjoy the full meal service in MEL/SYD but as you say something a little simpler may suffice sometimes. I just trust/hope the ORD/LAX Flagship lounges are way better than the LHR one!
Edit: LHR being something of an 'outstation' for AA, I don't necessarily expect it to match up to US-based Flagship lounge standards (and don't know if it does) but IMHO it was a probably a little below the level of a domestic QP. But I ain't complaining, it's nicer than waiting at a cramped standing-room-only gate lounge with 250 other people.

I've only been in the ORD flagship lounge, it's quite nice and definitely a big step up from admirals clubs.

Where does the bus from the domestic terminal drop you off in relation to Customs/TRS/FLounge?
The bus drops off near gate 8.Where does the bus from the domestic terminal drop you off in relation to Customs/TRS/FLounge?

And then a short walk to the QF First Class check-in counter(s) and express immigration.
Have just done it and it was quite painless....
My intl flight is with Jetstar, don't think I can use the 1st check in counter.
No, you'll have to line up with all the plebs at the Jet* check-in and they don't open a minute earlier than 3 hours before the flight![]()
And when there's AFFers about, you can guarantee that they'll faff about for another 20 minutes after that![]()
