Hmmm, most people complaining about reclining seem to have knee issues.
I never have a problem with knee room on a plane.
could it be that the basis of this thread is actually short people vs tall people?
I think you could be right
Dave! I'm 5'11'' (180cm I think) but I have a colleague who is 6'5'' (no idea how many cm!). His take was always to jam his knees into the back of the seat in front so that it wouldn't recline.. Not that he really had to try - his knees were already there to start with..
I'm still with the recliners - but Ito update more previous post , I change according to length - So I recline as follows:
meal times - never
1 hour - 0 - I may occasionally pop back a few cm but not so you could use a laptop
2 hours - 5 cm
3 hours - 10 cm
4 hours - 20 cm
5 hours - 25 cm
or something like that.. you get my drift - the longer the flight the more likely I will use up my designated space.
6 hours + daytime about half way (or is that 25 cm)
6 hours + nightime - as far as I want
If I'm lucky enough to get 3 seats window side or the entire centre in a 747 - never.. just get a good nights sleep across all the seats.

I've even managed to have some seats next to me blocked off at times
I must say, even with a contentious issue as this, this forum and the FT forum are still two of the friendliest around.. ie. very little flaming.
