Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

Monday 30th of December sees TT565 OOL-MEL (A320 VH-XUG) with a revised arrival at 18 17, 62 tardy. This later formed as TT471 MEL-ADL with a tentative arrival at 19 43, 63 behind.

TT504 HBA-MEL (B738 VH-VUB) recently touched down in a very windy Melbourne afternoon at 19 04, 84 min late.

TT565 (Friday 10 January 2020, the timetabled 1355 hours afternoon OOL down to MEL) took off at 1459 hours. B738 VH-VUD should arrive at about 1758, 43 late.

Bushfire smoke haze was noticeable at MEL when I was there earlier on Wednesday 15 January: clearly the airport and surrounds such as Broadmeadows are worse affected than the inner and outer southern suburbs, but by about 1115 the situation had worsened, so MEL closed one runway, the east-west I gather.

Extensive delays include to TT228, the scheduled 1105 hours late morning MEL up to SYD (B738 VH-VOY) that at 1247 hours was waiting for ATC to issue take off clearance.

Expect some flights to get the flick while delays for those that operate will affect many other aircraft even if they've not been today in MEL, due to connecting passengers and crew rosters, plus tardy MEL flights into and out of other airports, missing slots where these exist.

Late afternoon/evening thunderstorms are adding to MEL timekeeping woes on Wednesday 15 January with TT534, the 1715 hours MEL - BNE (B738 VH-VOR) still not having become airborne as at 1903 hours. It will be at least 90 minutes late arriving.

TT674, the Thursday 16 January scheduled 1145 hours late morning SYD up to CFS has A320 VH-VND, becoming airborne at 1353 so it will be not too far short of two hours late arriving in the beachside holiday haven.

TT243, the 1200 'high noon' SYD - MEL was two planes behind with this operator's more favoured B&38, VH-VUD so given about a 1356 hours takeoff, it will be more than 90 minutes late into the southern smoke-bound capital.

Another disastrous evening of late running on Thursday 16 January 2020, mostly due to Sydney/ Newcastle/NSW south coast and environs storms, with TT271 (B738 VH-VOR, the 1840 hours SYD down to MEL not departing until 2126 with resultant arrival likely at 2238, 143 minutes late.

TT253 is the worst flight for lack of punctuality observed thus far on Friday 17 January 2020. B738 VH-VOY is the 1540 hours SYD down to MEL airborne at 2149: resultant expected arrival is 2306 hours late this evening, 351 minutes late. Shocking!

On Sunday 20 January, TT583 (1110 hours CNS down to MEL, airborne at 1206 with B738 VH-VOY) is arriving at 1612 hours, 37 late.

TT238 (1335 hours MEL - SYD with A320 VH-XUH) was in the sky at 1454 so arrival looks to be 1605, 65 minutes behind.

TT504 (B738 VH-VOR) on 19 January is the scheduled 1620 hours HBA - MEL not in the sky until 1728, so with storms around MEL, arrival should be 1854 (74 late) or beyond that.

Late on 19 January, TT535 (B738 VH-VUX, the 1900 hours BNE - MEL in the sky at 1956) should arrive at about 2255, half an hour behind.

TT213 (Monday 20 January, the scheduled 0700 hours SYD down to MEL that took off at 0741) has A320 VH-XUH and is arriving at about 0906 hours, 31 late. This will de;lay TT218, the 0930 hours MEL back to SYD, though hopefully not by much, although like JQ, TT delays seem to compound during a day.

Later on 20 January 2020, TT584 (B738 VH-YVA) - the 1130 hours MEL up to CNS - took off at 1149 hours so arrival should be 1453 hours mid afternoon, 58 minutes behind.

TT663 (1240 hours CBR to MEL airborne at 1358 hours, B738 VH-VUB) looks to be arriving at 1455 hours, 65 late.

The 1300 hours MEL - BNE, TT524 (A320 VH-VNG) took off at 1352 so its equivalent to 'at gate' arrival should be about 1453 hours, 38 minutes behind the timetable.

With heavy rain approaching Sydney and some also not too far from MEL, expect further delays this afternoon.

Observations or has somebody on AFF other than me actually flown Tiger

Five years on, that observation remains as true in 2020 as in 2014. My guess is 'very few' or 'hardly any.'

I will admit to patronising it but not for about four years. Time heals all wounds!

Tuesday 21 January has TT218, the 0930 hours MEL - SYD (hat was in the sky at 1024 hours likely to arrive at 1133 hours, 38 minutes tardy. Aircraft is the not favoured by management A320 VH-XUH - the company wants to have an all B738 fleet for TT.

Continuing today, TT271 SYD-MEL, the 18 40 hours service has a revised departure at 20 35.
Similarly, TT386 SYD-BNE, the 20 00 hours service is expected to depart at 21 40.

On Wednesday 22 January, TT228 (B738 VH-VUD), the 1140 hours MEL - SYD did not take off until 1240, so expected arrival has become 1345 hours, 75 minutes behind schedule.

TT663 (1240 hours CBR down to MEL, B738 VH-VUX) had not taken off by 1342 so it will be at lest 50 minutes tardy.

B738 VH-VOY on TT562, the 1220 hours MEL - OOL had not taken off by 1416 hours, so it looks like being at least two hours late.
