Status Matches are still a consideration.
By calling our Contact Centre on 131 875, request a status match and provide some information, we can still provide this service.

I would imagine, that on your next DJ flight when you pay a visit to the lounge, a polite enquiry with a front desk rep (when they’re not busy), and flash of your Qantas card at the desk may (or may not) lead to something?

If flashing my staff card in the Lounge doesn't work then I'm sorry to say that flashing a QF card probably wont either!

But this would be the case with any loyalty program whether it is Velocity, BMI Diamond Club, SPG, Hhonors, Air New Zealand etc.

The is a lot of evidence on AFF where people have asked for a status match and have been successful. Just because this unofficial 'offer' is closed does not mean that people cannot ask.

But sometimes when things get published far and wide on the net, things can get out of hand.

Thanks to the status match, i've now started to make bookings with DJ. Only one so far but it's a flight that QF would have gotten by default (even though DJ were $1 more on the base fare, I saved with the CC fee, but I get no food/beverage on-board).

Here's hoping with the changes coming that F&B are going to be included in the fares.

Agreed things do get out of hand.

But as Velocity Rewards has posted in the post before yours this offer may be closed but people can still request a status match.

So is the offer actually closed then?

The Virgin Blue accelerate program is the entry point into corporate air travel with the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines.
This program currently offers two Velocity Gold cards to any qualifying Australian businesses with a minimum domestic expenditure of A$ 20,000.

Guess I was extremely lucky. I did apply on 9th December although advice on this forum said the offer had closed. But I thought what the heck.
And yes my Gold Status expiry date is January 2013.
Part of the email I received from DJ on 14th December:

We're pleased to officially welcome you to the highest level of Velocity Status Benefits - Gold.
You've been accelerated to Gold in recognition of the commercial relationship that exists between our organisations. We hope you enjoy the view from up here on Gold.

Just sent of a request to match my QF SG status. I know the offer is closed, but I am genuinely evaluating my options for travel this year, and explained that in my email to them, provided a copy of my most recent QF activity statement showing domestic and international travel, and my LTS silver status.

Will see what response I get and let you all know. Requested 3/1/2011

Considering you’re a PS, you could only hope for Silver, which wouldn’t help that much. But good luck in this endeavour…
