The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Yes a Y seat. If you buy J ticket you still get J SCs but only after a fight. Been through that.

But @_martyn_ is not chasing SCs, just sectors.
Oops, missed the sectors focus there. If it's just sectors may as well do BNE to whatever's cheapest on the day - PPP, MKY, NTL...

Hi folks, my partner unfortunately missed the 200 status credit new credit card bonus that ended in March so I'm trying to maintain platinum before 20 June this year.

I have a few work trips coming up which should bring the total I need to 211 SCs. Looking for some advice on runs out of MEL or CBR to maintain. Aside from Flybuys are there any other status earning mechanisms outside of flying I should be considering as well?

Thank you!

I reckon you'd ideally be looking at a CBR - ADL same day turn in J via MEL. Each flight will earn 55 SCs, giving you 220 in total (110 SCs each way). You can make a weekend in ADL out of it too if you'd like!

There are some CBR - ADL routings which take you via SYD, and the booking website will tell you that this routing gives you 110 SCs each way. However since the CBR - SYD flights don't have J, often VA will credit you with economy flex SCs and then you'll have to chase them up for the right amount...

Thanks mate!

Ended up finding some sale fares from MEL-OOL in J for $400 each way. Taking my partner to the Gold Coast for a week for a total of $1600 and 320 status credits (family pooling).

I'm not an expert on SC/dollar value but this seems pretty decent, plus they aren't wasted as we're actually going to use the flights for a holiday :)

Sounds great! Enjoy!

Sorry just had to do it...
I would consider Adelaide to be like the New Orleans of Australia (except without the humidity). A lot of people like to make fun of it but is quite amazing when you visit. It's kind of like a secret gem. Friendly people, great food, lower prices, and the festival capital of the nation. (This is just my opinion of course - you're free to have a different one.) It's not perfect but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be.

best VA lounge ;)

I need a bit of help - I have 960 VA SCs of which 480 are expiring on August 21st/22nd. I need to get my eligible sectors up to 8 though (currently sitting on zero) as I'd love to hit platinum which would be a first for me.

I'm based in SYD and it looks like BNK and OOL are my best bets to get my sectors up price-wise. Does anyone have any other suggestions or anything I'm missing here?

Also, even if I get my sectors up to 8, will I lose my platinum status as soon as those dates in August have passed (assuming I don't earn 480+ SCs from these new domestic flights?) Or do I retain platinum for 1 year?

Thanks in advance!

Velocity works on a rolling clock so in your case the day(ish) you hit 8 sectors you'd have 12 months to earn a further 800SC and 8 sectors to renew platinum

Question, I have 6 months to go until review and I have already earned enough SC to stay plat.
Will SC earn in the next 6 months go towards my next year's review?
Thanks

Presumably you have no SC's expiring before those August dates and with no eligible sectors you are still red?

If that's the case, after two eligible segments you will be Silver and after four you will be gold as you have already sufficient SC's to qualify both of those levels.

Assuming you earn the 40 SC in flying those eight eligible segments, from the moment your eighth posts you will be Platinum and, as indicated by @Must...Fly!, you will have this for a further 365 days of Platinum. After then, your 'review' period starts.

For example, if your eighth eligible segment is flown on 15th September and you attain Platinum, you be Platinum until at least after 14th September 2025 and your "review" is complete. You would have until 14th September 2025 to fly a further 8 segments and earn another 800 SC's to retain Platinum which, if achieved, would be until September 2026.

No; The counter does not reset until after your review date - i.e. 8 Eligible segments and 800 SC's would be required after your review date to retain WP for a further 365 days.
