One of my friends just posted on facebook that they are going on the 'Emirates Airbus 830'. I think he might be a time traveler

Help!!!!

Clicked on a Priority Club survey and once completed there was a link to Priority Club and I clicked on it. Now every time I open IHG or Priority Club it opens in Japanese.

Very very disappointing that they hijack my browser that way....

YOu must have done a Japanese survey

There should be a link (on the left somwhere) that says "View the English site"

Gotta love Paypal:

We wanted to let you know that you're just £XX.XX GBP away from reaching your PayPal sending limit of £1,900.00 GBP. This is the maximum amount of money you can send or use for purchases before you need to verify your account.

Luckily I still have a UK bank account and can do this. But still pretty nasty of Paypal to want to verify my account.

(BTW, I use my UK based Paypal account because it accepts my AU Amex without any hassles... )

Is the head office for Asia Pacific in Japan? The number has a prefix of +63 but the consultants in the call centre sound like they are from the Pilippines.

Yes that was in the middle of the website page but any time I opened IHG or Priority Club it would revert back to Japanese. I had to save the link with the English version to the Favorites again.

Quick sign in from Japan just to let you know that the quakes and radiation haven't got me. Trip report to come, but in the meantime

Effects visible in Tokyo:
+ vending machines have had all their lighting turned off to conserve power
+ There are NO Mild Sevens left anywhere in Japan
+ Convenience stores will only sell you 2 bottles of water at any one time
+ Less tourists, which means I get to enjoy My Japan without annoying foreigners making me roll eyes with stupidity ("What do you mean I can't pay for this Coke at the convenience store with a credit card?" or "I can't believe they let people smoke indoors" or "Do you have anything without fish in it?") (That last one from someone at a sushi place in the Tsukiji fish markets)

And so far, only little baby quakes. Amazing how you generally wake up and go "Why did I wake up?" then be confused for about 10 seconds then the quake hits.

I went onto QF website to see what is showing on my flights this weekend and found this synopsis:

The Tourist
1:44 | Thriller | M
Stars: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany
Director: Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck
Showing: South/East Flights 1-15 April
Magnificent. Based on the true story of King George VI whose severe speech impediment was overcome by eccentric Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue. As World War II threatened England and the nation looked to its monarch to lead them, Logue's therapies enabled King George to rise to the occasion, speak to the people and inspire his country to endure the uncertain years ahead.

Now, I know Hollywood seem to struggle to come up with original plot ideas and once something does well copies appear, but that's just ridiculous :D

Lol. Watched it only a few hours ago. Decent movie overall with some good plot twists. And the summary onboard QF is different to the description above!

Ok, Mal is stuck in LAX. My flight (AA4232 ORD-BUF) has been cancelled, so they cancelled the rest of my itinerary. (LAX-STL-ORD). Have been rebooked via DFW, but that flight doesn't leave until midnight tonight (ie a 12 hour delay all up).

I've been told it's weather reasons, but can't prove or disprove that at this stage. If it was not weather, then I've been IDB'd, and need to chase up compensation. (But, I know there are serious weather issues in the US at the moment).

At least my Amex Plat insurance will kick in. Now to find some friends to help me spend $A500 on food, drinks and accommodation (About $120 of that I'll try to claim on pre-booked accom I can't use tonight).

Ta, saw that myself a little bit later when digging around EF. Also saw that there was ~2.5 hours delay on all ex-ORD flights due to ATC issues. And now updated to:

A ground stop is in place for WEATHER LOW CEILINGS at ORD. The time to continue is 7:30 pm CDT..
Due to WEATHER LOW CEILINGS, ORD is currently experiencing ground delays averaging 2 hours and 35 minutes.
Due to WEATHER, LOW CEILINGS, ORD is currently experiencing general increasing departure delays averaging 16 minutes to 30 minutes.

Very messy.

Checked myself into the Crowne Plaza LAX, snoozed a little, relaxing a little etc. Good to help with the jetlag.

Some days you wake up, look out the window and go "Hey, there's a waterfall out there".

Other days you wake up (after a sleep in), wonder why it's so quiet then remember (and smile) that you 4 y.o. daughter had a sleep over at her grandparents. Oh boy, it was quiet with only mini#2 this morning - not rushed, when he finally woke up chatting to his teddy, great playing and laughing in bed with us - a real Sunday start to the day.:D:cool::mrgreen:

Hey, you finally made it!

Yep. No more (serious) delays, and everything was running perfectly... Grand plan was to get on 2 earlier flights than I was booked on.
Flight 1 - Ran a few mins late, but I got off quickly, bolted around DFW and managed to snare the last F seat on the flight that was just about to leave.
Flight 2 - Did the same thing, but no gate agent at the earlier flight I wanted. Went to Admiral's lounge and asked them - they said checked in full. So had 3 hours or so to kill in Chicago.

I even managed to pass Canadian Immigration scrutiny (although, she seriously flicked through my passport several times... and my cabbie thought I was getting a much heavier set of questions than normal people do).
