Surely there is not a "when will this thread get 1,000 replies" guessing game is there?
There won't be one from me.

Well, pickle me, where did JohnK's post go?
Sorry for deleting the previous post, I was rewording it and I didn't think there was anyone else online other than the 2 "hidden" users online and as I am one of the "hidden" users I thought the risk was low of confusing anyone.

With this post being #862 it could be a stuggle to get the remaining 138 (861 replies plus OP) posts required to reach 1,000th posts. Almost 37,000 views though and by far the most viewed thread on AFF.

I know I will probably regret asking this, but why are you a "hidden user"?

Without pretending to be JohnK, yes there are reasons.

It's no difference to owning a PO Box, or a private phone number. Some people choose a level of anonyminity that they want. The forum software allows for it, so why not use it...

I found the option in the user control panel one day and have left it unchanged since. As Mal mentioned the option is there for people to use it so why not?

I guess there are reasons, I just couldn't off the top of my head think of any.

Anyone heard from straitman recently? If so, is he OK?

Have not noticed a post from him since early June and have not been following FT to see if itsalongwaydown has been posting there.

Hasn't been of FT since about mid June.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Just logged on for the first time since 12th June. As some of you knew I had a "minor" operation to rearrange the cartilage in my nose in early June. The short version of a long story is that it all went very wrong a few days after the op and I had several sessions of serious bleeding and only now am getting up to speed again. I haven't flown (up front) for 8 weeks and may not get my medical category back for some weeks to come. Anyway that's enough of that.

Sue and I are off to NZ on 8th July for about 10 days (Nelson & Taupo) and the plan is to do very little. I trust the golf in Bris will come together for JK and others and I'm sad I can't even get to the 19th hole.:(

Enough of my rattling on for now,

Glad to hear that you are OK and you are slowly getting back on your feet.

Golf looks a likely non-event considering the poor organisation and the recent family issues that have presented themselves.

Anyone heard from MetroAir recently? If so, is he OK?

Have not noticed a post from him for a while and as his profile has disappeared from the member list he may have been barred from AFF!

A bit George Orwellian but that particular resident of Coolum (IIRC) seems to have been 'disapeared'.

See this thread as an example... mal's 1000th post?? Mystery prize up for grabs ...

Yep. Gone just like that. (clicks fingers)

I don't remember any offensive posts, and as he is no longer a user of AFF we cannot see a history of his last posts. Come to think of it some of his last posts had to do with the centurion card so maybe something offensive was mentioned there.
