Gotta love travel insurance companies: just working through my claiming expenses with my bout of pneumonia whilst overseas: my claim has now been divided into three claims even though it covers one incident: medical emergency, travel delay and baggage.

So?

Three claims, therefore $200 excess on each claim, isn't there?

No it should not be, but they are an Insurance company after all.:) The excess should apply to the "incident". Insurance Ombudsman is waiting for your email.

There is a very good chance that you won't die before you get to hosp though. So, best get some instructions organised as per your gorn fishing State requirements (if they have any). But most importantly tell your relos your explicit wishes and put it in your Will.

Damn, hopefully it will never be required.

That is cough...

It is one incident

There are tons of them. Essentially fry onions or shallots in generous butter, add garlic for 1 min (add some porcini mushrooms!), herbs (rosemary), 2 cups red wine, cup or two of stock (beef or chicken), bring to boil, sieve, slow cook for hrs till reduced, beat in some extra butter at the end.

You'll soon get the idea!

ps: add some balsamic vinegar as well.

The very original "where do you see yourself in 5 years?". How tempting is it to reply "rich and retired"? :D

Auto answer if more than just HR, "On the other side of the table." and smile!

Always got a good response - some laughed and said that was what they expected most of the time (depending on how the initial questions had gone).

Some (if non-HR person involved) respond with "I hope that doesn't mean I'm no longer here".

Occasionally the topic would change dramatically to much more specific 'skills related' such as what strengths would you bring. VERY rarely my favourite - "What would you say your greatest weakness is?"

Greatest Weakness or what did a past employer say you needed to improve on...

They say, don't say your perfect but rather say something that is a weakness and how you worked on it.

My bugbear with that stupid question, is why should I reveal something that might be negative when I am trying to show myself in the best light?

Too many pseudo psychology questions in job interviews.

The problem with a lot of interviews is they ask those psychology type questions and not the sort that actually let you show off your best side. I've been lucky with my last two jobs and their interviews; a bit of humour lets you actually show off your personality.

The last job interview I went to (many years ago) I was trying NOT to be offered the job. The bank I worked for had just been taken over by another. I would be retrenched and get a pay-out unless the new mob found a role for me, which they were obviously keen to do (basically give me something rubbish hoping I'd resign in short order and save them the retrenchment pay-out). I already had another job to go to, and was after the pay-out, so I made sure they didn't offer me anything.

I Agree!

At many interviews, the Interviewer marks a candidate on how well the candidate answered the question in relation to the S.T.A.R formula :
Situation
Task
Action
Result.

The S.T.A.R formula is supposedly a good precursor that shows how a candidates previous behaviour is supposedly a good indicator for future behaviour.

The problem with answering these type of questions is that to answer them correctly in order to achieve a high score, the response often has to be given that frequently sounds very robotic and the true personality of a candidate is not adequately expressed.

My last interview was in 1987.
It lasted about five minutes and the only question I recall was "Can you start tomorrow?"

Just applied for a job. Don't think I'll even get an interview.
But working to sanitise facebook at the moment.

That is a must!

Social media is frequently screened as part of the referencing procedure these days prior to a Job offer, and apparently 30% of candidates fail at the referencing stage due to undesirable posts discovered on the candidates social media pages.
