I just rang the place to get the CT scan and was offered an appointment this afternoon. Perfect because it is near where my car is getting serviced.

A very productive rostered day off.

Re the surgery the specialist told me that it is a day procedure with no packing in the nose afterwards and I can fly three weeks later. All being well I'll get it done in late August/early September.

Yes, I had a "nose job" as I like to call it - due to a deviated septum, etc. going back about 9 years or so ago now. Up until that point I could never easily breathe in and out of my nose with my mouth closed. It felt magical (about a month after the op - that one did involve about 2 weeks of packing before it was taken out!) to finally be able to do something so simple as close my mouth and breathe..... did wonders for snoring, too.

This is what I need done. I don't snore but I'm limited to one nostril for breathing and my nose runs constantly.

As mentioned previously I've had a very productive day off.

Got my car serviced,
Went to the ENT specialist,
Ported my mobile to Aldi (no change of number) took about a minute once set in motion. Best part the recharge earns points with my AMEX with no surcharge,
Did the laundry, (all dry),
Made a lunch appointment for Thursday (another RDO, two in a row which is very unusual),
Had the CT scan of the nose, they had an appointment this afternoon which they were very happy to fill,
Made a follow up appointment with the specialist, (Friday morning)
Picked up the car and was advised the tyres needed replacing, (I knew this was due) so went and got them replaced,
Did the shopping (got another Olympic coin from Woolies) and can now spend the evening watching television, posting on AFF and patting the cat.

I wish my day off was as productive as yours.

I've only managed to play a game of golf (poorly at that) at a new golf course, drink beer and now nag the wife. She may send me out for another game of golf if I nag enough. ;)

Can you usually get a few years mileage out of that...... some of our longer married friends can let you know if it continues to work further down the track though! ;)

And sometimes days are just so ridiculously unproductive that nothing worthwhile is accomplished. And now work emails down because the IP pushed through an update and the modem must need rebooting. Everyone left the office and no one in to do it.

Saw an ENT today for my sinus issues. The camera up the nostril was a first (hope he doesn't share it with the person who does the colonoscopy!) and was amazed at the difference between each side.

Right side was normal and fairly straight forward. The left side warranted a second look from both of us due to its enlargements and deviations.

Now we know what's there we can plan some treatment. And then I can breathe easily (at last),

In the meantime before your surgery - try this for sinus problems. An ENT specialist recommended this for my young daughter -
Go to a newsagent and buy a party pack of those paper blow out whistles - stick one up your nostril and close off the other nostril with your finger. Blow out 10 times each side. Do this twice a day morning and night to get air into the sinus cavity.
Cost of her specialist appointment $300:( - cost of a packet of party whistles $2.50 :)!

I had my ENT suggest surgery .... went to a Chiro, BOOM! no more issues.... no surgery, and no more endless scripts for antibiotics :D Pretty good result given it's been 15 years...

Doesn't work for everyone ... my son had surgery last year - that also worked.

Lucky......................... I have been told the pain can be worse than childbirth

I think I will wait a few years and after you have given birth to a baby, then tell me if you could push a 8 and a half pound lump out of your nose !!

I was told that by someone who has children. I think having your nose opened up and the septum relocated is pretty painful. I've not given birth so I cannot compare.

I think I can manage to get decent mileage out of that one. ;)

Just like the time she asks you to iron her best skirt/dress. Just put a hole through it and you'll never be asked to iron again.

Sure, if you're happy to sleep outside in the dog house for a few weeks.... ;)

Sure. Even the time she asked for the garbage to be taken out and her favourite pearls were missing. ;)

You can tell I have an answer for all the stupidity that is expected from males today? Seriously not joking.

Wait until you are 62 then compare. (Not)

Nasal surgery - talking about turbinate reduction??

I had it done several years ago as I had about 15% function in one side and around 50% in the other, always struggled to get breath when exercising, post nasal drip and snorer.

Was fantastic for a long while after but have been noticing recently that some issues are creeping back in.

Recovery was easy aside from a rough recovery from the GA (was given too much) and the foam roll under your nose and hooked over ears for a couple of days!

Ahh, that brings back some fond memories of my friend's engagement party as the are photos there to remind me of that.

I have a similar experience with it all gradually getting worse years later.

I had a rough trot at the time also as within hours of being released from hospital I got the blood nose from hell. This was eventually contained then started again almost immediately. The pain of the things they stuck up my nose was about 12 on a scale of 1-10 and I could see blood in my eyes.

An extra 3 then 4 days in hospital.

Not a fun time at all.
