Realised now that I am in lounge in Prague that i left my smart phone in taxi. Not so smart operator left phone switched on. Phone does not have pin lock. While there is no sim card, phone can connect to wifi and then my emails can be accessed.

Have talked to taxi co, who say they will talk to driver and call me on other phone (with sim card) if they get the phone. BA is delayed an hour and a half, rescheduled for boarding in about 45 mins, But don't give much hope of getting phone back.

Appreciate suggestions for deactivating phone (Optus). Probably need to cancel email address too?

If you are trying to protect the data that is on the phone, there's is likely not a lot you can do except attempt a remote wipe. (This assumes you are prepared to throwaway the data on the phone and/or you have an accessible backup of it). Of course, that relies on a connection that can get to the device, after which when you give the instruction will proceed to wipe the phone of all data (it doesn't actually deactivate the device from usage, but there will be no more data on it from a factory start).

Normally if in Australia and especially if a SIM card was in it, you could call Optus to have the IMEI blocked. That stops the phone from accessing the mobile network, which mitigates your chance of having a large phone bill racked up. But the block doesn't necessarily work once outside of Australia, and it certainly doesn't stop accessing wireless networks.

Cancelling the email address can help, although you need to make sure that you have a backup of all your email in that account (and contacts, calendar, etc.), new mail is directed to a new account (usually by informing your key contacts) and the old email is completely deactivated (i.e. sending to it will bounce, not just be received, so a thief may still be able to read what is there). At a very minimum, change the password on the account as your lost phone may try to access it but should fail because the credentials have changed (however, that doesn't stop someone from reading the emails which are cached on the phone already).

I know that wiping the contents is possible with an iPhone (find my phone app), but not sure about other brands. Google your phone brand and 'remote access' or the like.

The Samsung devices (on Android) have their own set of services equivalent to Apple's iCloud services which allow a phone to be 'controlled' remotely - remote lock, remote ring, locate phone, remote wipe, etc.

Re: Faster Smarter Checkin Question?

You probably already know of this one, but there is a website, called FlightAware, FlightAware - Flight Tracker / Flight Status / Flight Tracking that allows you to track the flight number of your flight, over the past few days.
Yes, flight routes do get changed, but you can sate while you bide the time towards the flight, by "wasting time" playing with the website.
I find it a good thing, not 100% that my flight will follow past runway usage, but it gives an understanding of whats possible.
Sorry for the waffle, (yawn, say the rest of the "team"), ok, will shut up now, (on this anyway).

So that's a yes :p

Well to be really honest, I can eat it when it's not the season, but I wouldn't ordinarily buy it, even during the festive season. I'm not saying it's not my cup of tea, but at home I'd likely be the only one who'd eat that pudding, which is not a good thing. :)

Interesting. Waitrose has that pudding also, only supermarket here that does.

No store-bought puddings are allowed in the OATEK household. I make several puddings each November, boiled (really simmered) in cloth for about 8 hours. There is one for Christmas day, and the other shared amongst various family and friends. I use a recipe passed down by my Grandmother to my mother, and owing to the lack of any other volunteers in my generation to take on the pudding mantle, its now left to me to carry on the tradition!
