The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Cheers for the inputs. Decided to do a mix. relatively unnecessary upgrade in SYD - MEL return using the $299 J fare one way (we'd almost never buy this route in Cash for J) and potentially a visit to Palma when we're over in Europe.

Should tick her over to platinum until Sep 2027 by which we might do a status hold if all things go well.

Thinking being facetious.....it's like me saying Glasgow is the Scottish capital ....and Perth is the capital of Australia!! 🤭😁🤣

I thought he might have missed a word, eg “Financial” or “Sausage” (or something wurst)…🙄
Palma will be nice ..
…very. Passed thru on a cruise 2 years ago. Actually nicer than I thought it would be.

Take a look at BCN-xMAD-LON RT on IB/BA

Starts at about $546 + taxes for 200 SC.

Thanks for this - seems really handy. How do I replicate it or get it to price like that? I've tried google flights, but I'm getting significantly higher prices.

I’ve been playing around with these and the best bet with UK-Spain status runs is to start in secondary UK ports and head to airports in Spain where there is a non-stop LCC connection, connecting in London and Madrid on the way. Ex-Spain, prices can be high. Something like INV/EDI-LHR-MAD-AGP/PMI/IBZ works well.

When I put that into google flights, I get costs upwards of £600 - what dates are you looking at and what prices are you getting?

For example, I did a multi-city entry of INV-LHR-MAD-AGP and got £650. When I do that return, it is over £1,000. Is there something I'm not doing right?

Try using Kayak or Skyscanner. EDI-LHR-MAD-PMI (filtering Oneworld only, and 2+ stops) yields the best results. e.g. out 7/10, back 14/10 is 340 quid bookable through Expedia UK.

Amazing! Thanks for the advice - going to check these out now.

Hi folks

Anyone has any recommendation for status runs from Melbourne to India or Asia. in anticipation of an upcoming DSC, i am thinking of making a holiday trip there but cant figure out the best route to get $3.5/SC (with the promotion) or around $7 without

From the routed I've looked at recently, India and a lot of Asia seem to be pretty tricky to get down to those figures even with DSC. Looking at MEL-SYD-BLR-SYD-MEL for example with DSC and Business Sale fares it looks to come out at $9.41 / SC. MEL-SIN-MEL is about $8.55 / SC. MEL-SYD-SIN-SYD-MEL is about $7.54 / SC.

From Melbourne to get near the $3.5/SC rate at the moment it looks like you'd be going to NZ or Port Vila (MEL-BNE-VLI-BNE-MEL for 240 SC @ $3.67 / SC)

Hey guys, i did a PER-SYD-AKL-MEL-PER for $3.5k & 350SC (DSC) which got me to gold straight away, then work paid for a PER-HKG-HND-JFK-HND-HKG-PER which got me to Platinum late last year. Qantas is showing an expiry of 31st March 2026.

Does this mean I only have 3 mths of Platinum and ill be back to Gold from 1st April 26?

Just working out what flights to take to retain Platinum from Perth, appreciate suggestions and feedback.

When were each of your trips done (month/year)? I assume your current membership year runs 1/4/25-31/3/26 and it's in those dates that you earned 1400 SC to earn WP?

Hi guys. I need 380SC to retain gold before the end of March, and I have points club status. Any suggestions of reward flights to gain these points in a Short amount of time?

Yes, already registered. I was more after a suggested itinerary... My home airport is PQQ.

I will probably be flying PQQ-SYD-CBR return next week, but the flight down may be before the fly dates start :(

PQQ-AKL via SYD, MEL or BNE in J will probably do the trick.

J out of PQQ is very hard to find normally, let alone reward flights...
Assuming economy out of PQQ and J across the Tasman, thats 156SC. I probably need two laps across the tasman :(
