The Qantas Singapore Lounge

Popped into the QF SIN lounge this arvo ... Couldn't get a pair of lounge chairs. So we just had a shower and feed then went next door to the BA lounge for real Champagne. WiFi also is faster in BA lounge as it is nearly empty vs the Zoo of the QF lounge. Food in QF was nice. When entering BA lounge the agent did mention I could use the QF lounge but I said it was a bit busy. She just smiled, advised me of the WiFi password without asking and waved us in after BP scanning. The agent did make a point that the QF flight will not be called and we should monitor the board.

We have now consumed a bottle of bubbles and moving on to #2 which we intend to get through. The spring rolls they keep bringing around are tasty.

I fly through SIN 5 or 6 times a year. I agree with you, the QF lounge is noisy and some of the pax are pretty down market. At my last visit some pax got so unruly the manager and a staff member had them thrown out. The dining is very good for an airport lounge and the showers are great and the staff are also very good. As soon as I have had my dinner I cross over to the BA Galleries lounge. It is nice and quiet, much better champagne and a more relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere. I occasionally use the CX lounge if I arrive before QF and BA lounges open, but only for somewhere to sit as it is a pretty dismal lounge, an embarrassment to CX in my opinion.

When I went through SIN last (late last November), I used the QF, EK, CX and BA lounges for different periods. Used the CX lounge after arriving on MH before JL. Had to use my baggage claim tag showing the connecting JL flight to get into the Skyview lounge because no one would give me a boarding pass. They kept claiming it was "too early". After a couple of house there, the QF lounge had opened so moved their after getting the JL pass. Ended up moving to the BA lounge for better food.
A week later, went to the EK lounge on arrival connecting MH-QF as QF lounge wasn't open. Moved over to QF when it opened. Again needed to go to BA for food.

Sounds like it's similar to their lounge in BKK. I wonder where they have any good lounges outside HKG.

QF is by far the better lounge in comparison to BA's and one which CX has. Location-wise, it's easy to move between QF and BA, both adjacent to each other.

What was the bubbles on offer?

The one at YVR is not too bad. TPE one was ok from memory. Nothing outstanding but certainly not dismal.

Trying out the SIN QF one for the first time tomorrow. Interested to see what the fuss is about.

Finally had the opportunity to visit yesterday evening. Place was absolutely packed at 1830. Was way too noisy to relax but I guess if you mainly wanted food and drink out of a lounge you'd be fairly well-served.

No problem last Thursday evening. We arrived about 5.45pm and the 3 of us sat at the bench table for a feed then got seating on lounge chairs.

Didn't realise how much I missed salads, having eaten Asian style food for the week, until coming upon the salad bar and enjoyed the noodle, potato, beetroot and others. The desserts (creme brûlée, lamingtons, mini cupcakes etc.) were also nice. I was disappointed with the champagne (but drank a couple, just to confirm my first impression ;)) and followed with a red.

Agree with eminere "…I guess if you mainly wanted food and drink out of a lounge you'd be fairly well served".

For me, the meal and drinks in lounge were good enough for me to decline dinner onboard. Made up with more sleep.

I was also there easter monday, ~2030 onwards for QF6. Place was probably 1/4 full? everyone was making use of the lounges by then. Tables were empty.

Really? I think the Skyview lounge is quite OK and beats the Qantas and BA lounges most times. Usually has 2-3 hot food choices, nice views of gates and taxiways, desktops, no screaming kids and is open 24 hours.

The CX lounge in KUL is OK. The CX lounge(s) in BKK, TPE are average. The CX lounge in MNL is a disappointment.

Most QF Oz bound flights have boarded/departed well and truly by 8:30pm, so the lounge does tend to clear out. A better perspective can be gained ~6pm.
