I skipped PP but was somewhat disappointed about missing the related Pinot Walkabout (and Pinot Swingers, hopefully they'll return next year) as well as the inaugural Pinot Noir Expo at Dan Murphy's Cellars (not to mention Clovis Taittinger) due to being overseas

Hoddles's standard pinot is generally regarded as the best value around - the 1er is of course even better quality, with $45 a good price considering that it's now hard to find and the current vintage is 2016.

Stop it! Grabbed some Hoddles 1er from Wine Decoded. Thanks for your advice.. Mixed it with some Yabby Lake 2015 Pinot. If my wife sees this the cable will be pulled from the modem!

Quaffing my last pinot tonight so looking…
It is a 15 Serrat, I was ambivalent about it's 5 predecessors, but this one is the goods…
I am bit suspicious of my taste buds with Pinot.. in the LAX lounge there was a fairly generic selection but one pinot was quite quaffable, so much so that several visits were required to the bottle……...
A discussion with a fellow lounger saw him converted too.
It was from Monterey and I decided to take a pic of the bottle , maybe it was available in 'Oz ???
It was Mark West Black… 3.8 on vivino...… I really do wonder about my taste buds...
 
Went to Le Pont this arvo and tried the Ashton Hills Pinot, for some reason none of them appeal to me at all just like the 2016 Tolpuddle disappoints. Don’t know if I could continue using price as a yard stock for benchmarking Pinot. Mike Press and Breamcreek Pinot are my new favs and those things are extremely well priced.

Haven’t tried (or purchased) the ‘16 TP PN yet but 6 months since my last, I’m really enjoying a ‘13 tonight - it has transformed from a strawberries and cream PN, to a full on barnyard funk one. It’s nice to follow the journey it’s taking, just lucky I like the route :)

My apologies for not posting many reviews recently. In my new life I don't find myself online frequently, except for the occasional spare minute at work, where I am unable to upload any images. But I thought this wine was worth the exception.

Ever so rarely a wine comes along that forces you to re-calibrate the scale against which other wines are considered. This is one of those wines. A nose so deep that it smells like a rich fortified Muscat. The colour so intense that the wine almost glows in the glass. A palate so concentrated, powerful and deep that it has you double-checking the label for variety. It’s like no other Pinot I have ever tasted. This is to Pinot, what the Grand Merlot is to Merlot. Dare I suggest this should be re-labeled a Grand Pinot?

Six weeks on skins, followed by 34 months in new french oak delivers a Pinot of very impressive proportion and length. The fruits are dark and powerful, with incredible complexity, including musk, orange-blossom, and sweet herbs. The tannins are ripe, but very firm and insistent. The balance near perfect. The wine really deserves15-20 years in the cellar, but is drinking beautifully right now.

Not cheap at $220 a bottle, but what an experience. Truly remarkable.

There are a few other very nice Pinot's I've discovered since moving down to Tassie. I'll try and post details of those as time permits.

Sorry to hear - Ashton Hills Reserve is one of my original favourites, the 1997 being one of the first I tasted/bought (2015 $65.94 @ myCellars (JH98, HH96, MB94 - pm me for free delivery code)) - I'm yet to try my 2015 Tolpuddle

Haven't had Mike Press, but my initial bottle of 2012 Bream Creek didn't live up to the critics for me - hopefully the remaining ones are better
