The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Not all of the meetings are serious, some are just fun catch ups with lots of frivolity in these hard times.

The interpreters do have a hard job but they are human and as much as we're supposed to ignore them they do appreciate appropriate acknowledgement.
Thanks. I thought you were doing this in the really important announcements. Makes sense then 😀

Been "free" for a couple of days now. I totally stuffed up on day 1 by heading out to get some supplies at about 7:45pm. Seems I missed the memo about things closing at 8 now (theory was it would be a quiet time but I hadn't factored this in). I managed to grab a few things that we needed like I was in one of those "the price is right" shopping challenges. What was most frustrating was that by protocol that we've established, I went straight home to shower and change out of the clothes I wore for all of those 15 minutes that I got to shop, so I easily spent twice the amount of time preparing to be outside as I was actually outside.

I perhaps haven't been missing half of what I thought I had.

Birthdays in self isolation aren't all that bad, I had friends and family from all around the world sing me Happy Birthday on Zoom while I struggled to blow out the candles :D

Weather was good, BBQ for Mrs FB and I went well and even ended up a little sunkissed!

4 days till my release...

Day 6. of self imposed social distancing.

Quite surprised. One phone call, one text and one email from people I haven't seen for weeks or even much longer asking how I am doing. Have more friends or remembered more than I ever thought. 🙏

Day 21 of self-imposed isolation

Still sane (I think), well I've not yet started to talk to myself (or the fridge). I've always muttered at the TV when someone I consider has said something stupid so that's not new.

Probably a few friends are muttering about me behind my back though as I have been filling in some time sending copious gifs and jokes about covid and isolation (and the yellow haired joke of all time) via whatsapp.

Been doing some researching and baking of sugar free dessert items 🍰🎂 to fill in other periods of time but even that is started to bore me and I can't (or shouldn't 🐷🐖 ) eat as much as I have made and no-one to give them too.

Have commented on far too many AFF threads and now being flooded with alerts which start becoming like a dog chasing its tail  reading moving to the next one then back to the previous one. Given there is no flying going on, no travel tips, but getting more than a serve of other peoples frustrations trying to cancel and get refunds, conspiracy theories and other miscellany and well as some really good info on what others are doing and experiencing etc.

Thank goodness for the humour thread - my favourite

Decided to try my hand at emoji movie name puzzles a friend sent, not sure how I will go as I don't watch many movies 🤔

Oops now I'm boring more people with a long post.

@Flashback that is good to hear you are both ok in isolation. A heatwave in London is about 25 isn’t it?
Went for a late afternoon bike ride and there were more dogs and people on the track. I plan to go back to a morning ride but it was raining this morning.
Bought a pack of 50 face masks for our family at home and our work office is getting some air shipped.

25 would certainly be a heatwave, looks like there'll be another 2 or so days where the temp will get to 20 this week. It's a nice change.

My nephew who escaped from France just over two weeks ago is back with his wife (niece) and their two young children. Happy families.
Some good news. I was thinking of you yesterday as a friend went to see her granddaughter. Friend stayed in the car with windows up, so was wondering how you and @Flying mermaid were holding up as the Bubs are much younger.

Last night mum in laws sister was taken to hospital. Shes in her 80s but had difficulty breathing. We're still keeping almost 90 mum in law at home but shes not happy about it.

I've decided not to even go see the family through the windows. Grandbaby would expect me to come get him and cuddle him. This way, I can imagine they are overseas and I couldn't see and touch them in that case. I almost wish, if I knew it would be mild, that I could get this damn virus so then I would be free to visit.

The toughest isolation seems to be where nursing homes are in lockdown.
Our 14 days did drag a bit but it does end. Time slows down when you are in isolation.

So the UK is due to review their position on restrictions at the end of this week, latest news from Downing Street suggests there is likely to be no change and we'll go into another 3 week review period.

It is particularly hard for SWMBO; we live a 10 minute walk from her Mother's nursing home and her daily visits there have come to a stop.

To make matters worse they had been in lockdown due to an outbreak of Influenza type A since mid January and there was only time for one subsequent visit before the COVID-19 shutters went up.

That is tough for SWMBO serfty.
‘We have a girlfriend of Mrscove in a locked up facility. I am glad we both visited her just before we flew to London.

I think you mean a 'locked down' facility? Locked up has different connotations.

Day 13 for me, free after tomorrow, but who really want's to go anywhere. Should finish my TR tomorrow to coincide with my last day of enforced imprisonment, has kept me reasonably sane. First outdoor job is mowing the lawn.
